The ATV has things the SM4's doesn't (many actually), the SM4 has nothing that the ATV doesn't. |

I think your better off to go hit both and make your own decision's. Lot's of info can be found in the threads about these two clubs, but the real question... which club fits you best? Out of the deeper rough I just don't think anything can beat the ATV, for me. I spend enough time there it's kind of worth while to keep it in the bag, lol.

Personally, I would choose neither of those two, but if I had to decide between the two, it would completely depend on where I struggled with the wedge. |

Could you expand on why you would choose one over the other based on someones struggles. What would one problem make you choose the ATV and what problems would have you chose the Vokey? Thanks Versatility Balance Look Most wedges (not all) are not forgiving and are geared towards being versatile for the multitude of shots you will have to hit with them. I find some have leading edge designs that I do not care for (see Mizuno line MPR line last year), others are too head heavy (see Vokey). Others still fit my game rather well. See Cleveland 588, Callaway Forged (ironic since I did not care for the Jaws), SCOR, J40 and quite a few others. |

Sure. I played Vokey wedges for years. Fine wedges that work very well. They are slightly head heavy to me and because of that they dont work all that well for me compared to a few others. The ATV wedges are very different. Larger sole that is newly designed for many reasons and myself and others have found them to be very versatile. When it comes down to my choice, I go with wedges for 3 reasons. |

The idea behind the ATV is simple-one versatile wedge that allows users to hit different shots with one wedge. The ATV sole features a relative bounce angle which is determined by how the sole and face are relative to the ground. Like I had mentioned before, my custom 56 10 Vokey was decent out of the sand but I couldn't do many shots properly with it besides the sand bunker shots. With the ATV, I've played it in muck, rocky sand, tight lies, knee high rough, shallow rough, played flop shots, chips, pitches, and I've been able to play them effectively without worrying about the proper bounce angle.
In my opinion, the SM4 is a great option, and is great off the shelf-I got mine custom made through the pro shop which contacted Vokey with the order by the way( I got the loft/bounce combo I wanted with the Project x 5.5 shaft and a nice little grind-but the ATV off the shelf was great for me and it outperformed the custom Vokey I had made. . . -Uriel |
