Hey Shane. I'm 100% Irish living in Cork. There are quite a few Irish members here on THP. I'm the lucky member of THP JB spoke about that will be travelling to the states next month to take take part in The Morgan Cup 2.0. I am on Team Hackers and have been sponsored by Callaway.

As for somewhere to practise most driving range distances are pretty solid in my experience. The problem I find with ranges is the balls are totally different to the ones used on the course.

If you ever need any help here on THP i'm happy to help out, just drop me a PM
Thanks but yeah ranges I find have too many differences to the course especially for wedge play.. What I was looking for was a better version of the short game area at leopardstown driving range, I would go there but the green is artificial runs terribly and is ridiculously expensive.

When you say short game, are you looking to work on your short game around the green or from 100 yards in ??

If it's around the green an idea might be to arrive to a round extra early and get your practise in on their chipping green. If its from 100 yards any community field could be a solution. Measure out the distances yourself and put a marker down. Just ensure you repair any damage you do.

In my prep for The Morgan Cup I have been chipping a bucket of balls from one side to the other of my girlfriend's 70 yards back garden.

You might also find some good ideas in the Morgan Cup prep thread as a lot of us are working on our short games at the moment.

Thanks might try that will also read, it is more about controlling the inbetween wedge shots and getting them closer, just dont even know of a park around where I could actually do this..

I think it might be resolved now though as I have just received an e-mail from my club saying they are cutting away an area almost specifically for this so it will be perfect

Thanks all though for suggestions and different Irish stories/ racial stereotypes haha

Sorry for replying to an old thread but only just got back to THP after a long absence (got myself injured and couldn't play for a good bit so went cold turkey but now back and swinging).

Not actually Irish but the wife is and I live just west of Dublin.

I would recommend the GUI Academy at Carton House but it might be a bit far away for you. They have an excellent short game practice area that allows you to hit wedges from all distances and lies, as well as flags on the range (which is usally off grass in summer...exceptions for "summers" such as the one we are having at the moment of course).
