I picked one of these up lately and when I first got it I was having the same problem as you. I realized after a range session that if I play the ball up in my stance like a fairway wood, it just wants to hook. As long as I play the ball in the middle of my stance it will go straight. If I move the ball back toward my trailing heel it produces a low trajectory shot that goes straight or fades slightly. The club might disagree with your swing, but I'd suggest playing with ball position for a bit before shelving the club.
