Glad I could be useful some way!
It was smalls that was useful. Don't steal someone else's some credit.
You two are something else. I don't know what else, but something.

What if each tester posted on the first page, and edited their own post with links to their new reviews as they added them?
That would be tough too, actually. Not everyone is on the forum when the thread is started, and usually someone gets their testing right away and then people start asking questions.

Also the first page could be any number of posts, depending on how you have it set up. It could be 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30.

I think any ideas that may spur some improvement are good, but they're not all doable from a forum standpoint. Having multiple threads really isn't an option. I like the idea of the reviewers updating their first post with links, but I think it needs to be left up to them to choose if they want to do it. I think Jman's method is pretty helpful as well, though I understand why some may feel that it's daunting to tear into a testing thread.

I'm in favor of keeping it the way it is.

No doubt. It would definitely require a little more work, but like I said, I think having it be totally optional and voluntary would work. If you don't want to do it, fine. But I know plenty of testers that I think would put in the extra effort. Also what do you mean by multiple threads? I'm confused.

It was from a post before mine that suggest separate threads for each tester.

I think each individual updating their first post is a good idea for easy navigation.

I also agree with this. Maybe a thing where nobody post in the thread until all the testers get an initial post up, that way they are all on the first page? I dunno.

I think that is a pretty solid idea. I have taken to linking all my previous reviews in my posts ala Jman, but with all the replies that happen in those threads, things still get buried in a hurry. I have told some people outside of the forum that they should follow me along in the SeeMore testing, and a couple of them have come back and said that they had to give up because it was just too much work to follow along and keep up.

Attaching links to the first posts in the thread would really be a quick and easy way for people to navigate to the testers main reviews.

Wow, I knew my ears were burning for some reason, little did I know this thread was why! Hehehe

I just don't get why its that hard to see who the tester's are in the first post and then search the thread. Its why I started linking to all my posts, you see I'm a tester all you have to do is search and find my last review post to see them all. But, that's just me and my opinion as to me reading through ALL of the info is half the fun.

I get peoples points, I just don't think logistics are being thought through all the way. It sounds great to have each poster to make a sort of "table of contents" type post and I love that thought, but it has to be simple and easily manageable for all types and levels of computer knowledge and everyone has to commit to do it.

Just my two cents though! I love the discussion!

I too really enjoy following along with each testing thread from start to finish, but I think that just doesnt work for some people. And while searching the thread for a specific tester's last review post is useful, i think that action can be more daunting for a lot of people than simply navigating through a bunch of links that are placed in a tester's first post.

I dont think people need to put any extra work into making a table of contents in their first post or anything like that. Simply take the classic Jman Reference Links interface and place that straight into their first post.
Also, like linking posts now, this wouldnt need to be required, just seems like a good idea to me.

It would also be pretty important and incredibly useful I think, to have all testers make the first posts (after JB's ofcourse) That, combined with people placing links in their first post would give people the ability to open up any testing thread and have direct access to all the tester's "main" posts right there on one page. Now, if that is all they choose to look at they will miss out on a lot of great stuff that is bounced around by the testers and forum members (Answering questions, quick thoughts...etc) but they will get sort of a 'Cliff's Notes' version of the testing thread which I think would be very useful to a lot of people.

Anyway, im just thinking out loud now. I just hate seeing people get turned off by the effort/time it can take to follow along with these (sometimes massive) testing threads. My SPi instructor was one of those people! He just couldnt hang, hahah....

Well darn, I was going to respond to JMan but you pretty much said everything I was going to say. I also see your POV Jman and understand that as well. However, some people just don't enjoy that I don't think, or just can't put in the time. My roommate and Dad both wanted to follow me as I tested the RBZ irons but both of them said it was just too overwhelming and they stopped.

Anyways just my 2 cents, I'm going to continue to go through threads either way, I just thought maybe theres a way we can make things a little easier for some. It takes me quite a while to get through all the threads here as it's such a massive wealth of information. That's not a bad thing at all, just takes some time.
