That is a really impressive statistic.
The average on the PGA Tour in 2011 was one three putt every 32 holes.
Which makes Luke Donald's streak of 449 holes seem so unbelievably insane. 449. 449!

..but...im on a streak of 15 right now, so 449 is pretty much in my sights at this point.

And there we have the glaring difference between low, mid and high handicaps. I'm playing to 13, and I 3 putt around 4 times a round. Total putts don't look awful, but that's because I'm chipping a lot and get some 1 putts from that. If I 3 putted once every 2-3 rounds, my playing partners would want to check my basement for pods. That or have me take a gauntlet of drug tests.

I think this is one area that is tough to compare vs Pros.

I have played courses that have hosted Pro events and their greens are A LOT tougher than the ones most of us play on. I think the slower greens are one of the few things keeping us recreational players from 4 putting every other hole.

How many three putts per round huh? Probably as many as a woman with eight children, changes diapers each day.
Well maybe not that many but at least four or five per round.

this. total putts are never more than 36 at worst for me but too often than not I'm chipping 2 or 3x a hole and 1 putting for a 6, 7, or 8

I never can tell, lol. I go a couple rounds with none and then kick off about 3 in one round.

Almost never, and when I do I get really mad at myself because that is just giving a stroke away IMO.
