Please tell me I'm not crazy, or at least that I'm not the only one who talks to my golf clubs during a round. When I'm playing with a group the dialogue is usually just in my head, but when I'm playing as a single I'll have an ongoing conversation with each of my 14 buddies. "C'mon driver, let's put one right down the middle." "Nice shot 9-iron. Well done." "Let's put a good roll on it baby. Get 'er to the hole."
The ball can be become part of the discussion as well. "You couldn't have taken 1/2 more roll to the hole?" or "How do always know ti release when the pin's in front or check up when it's in the back?" And so on. Am I alone? Do I need to seek psychiatric care? |

Yes, you're crazy.
No you're not. Just jokin. I do a similar thing when playing alone except my discussion is with myself rather than my clubs. I think you just want to have friends on the course when you play so you enlist your clubs. My discussion is more of..."OK let's put a little draw on this and curve it around the trees..." It's a good way to stay focused. You're just expressing your thoughts out loud knowing no one else will hear you. |

I think the talking to your clubs that your describing is extremely positive reinforcement, something we could all use more of on a conscious or sub-conscious level out on the golf course. I'm not sure your being as constructive with your balls - perhaps they could use some more coddling (I bet you didn't think the conversation could get any weirder).
So to answer your questions, you may be alone but I don't believe you need to seek help until the clubs start talking back. |

So to answer your questions, you may be alone but I don't believe you need to seek help until the clubs start talking back. I do talk on the course. Sometimes it's directed at the clubs, but mostly just at myself. Most common phrases used are "You've got to be kidding me...", "Seriously?", and "Really?" |
