Default First Lesson in 4 Years Today...
I've been struggling with my iron play recently, so I decided to bite the bullet and schedule a lesson through Golf Galaxy. My biggest problem is lack of consistent, solid contact, which I was hoping to get ideas on how to correct...

So, here's my experience...

My instructor, John, started by asking me the standard questions (what is your game like, what are your strengths, why are you here). I told him that I drive the ball pretty well, and am not bad with chipping and putting, then told him about my iron struggles. He then had me hit a few balls, starting with my driver. After a few solid drives, he switched me to my pitching wedge, and had me take full swings. After a couple, he stopped me and asked what my swing thought(s) was when I hit my driver, as well as my thought(s) when hitting irons and wedges. I never gave it much thought, but I had different thoughts depending on the club. With my driver, it was "high hands, power through", with my wedges it was "stay outside, don't overswing", with my shorter irons it was "tempo", and with my long irons it was "sh*t, I'm a long ways out". We spent the rest of the 45-minute lesson working on maintaining a consistent, solid swing, no matter the club selection. By the end, I was focusing on one swing thought, and really striking the ball well.

I had never given much thought to my swing thoughts. I have spent so much time reading and watching instructional pieces that I had been over-thinking my swing. I am very anxious to get out and hit some balls in a real-golf setting, but I feel much more comfortable and confident that I will play well than I did before the lesson. I have nothing but positive things to say about Golf Galaxy, and recommend a lesson to anyone struggling with any part of their game.

That's pretty cool, I really need to take more lessons again, I spent the entire month of april working with a pro and my game became way more consistent but some bad habits have creeped up again and I'm trying to get rid of the, haha. I should look into the golf galaxy option. How much is it for hour just wondering?

Having a trained eye find your flaws is invaluable IMO.

Congrats on the great lesson

It was $50 for one lesson, or $130 for three.
