Default What a result!!!
Alot of you probably saw my post about another nightmare round on friday, but today, my first ever round of 18 was a breakthrough!

I played with 2 friends, one similar to me and one 10 handicapper

Everything just seemed to go well today, i do have a confession however, i used my driver on the par 5s to give myself a chance to be on the green in two, and out of the 2 par 5s i did it once :P Cracking drive, worked from left back into the fairway, left me the perfect distance for my hybrid, BANG, smashed it straight at the green rolled on and 2 putt for a birdie, my first ever!!

Then the next hole, 164 yards, pulled an 8 iron, lands 5 feet from the pin and 1 putt for 2 birdies in a row!

My rhythm went a bit on holes 3, 8 and 13 but i was still able to gind out the points on all bar 13 where i went for the green in 1 with the 3 wood, hooked it and found the water, got a blob but managed to sort it out on the next hole anyway :P

Overall i scored 40 Points! (20 out, 20 in) Which i thought wasnt half bad for my first round of 18 and with the weather conditions

The 10 handicapper scored 40 aswell while the other high handicapper scored 30

It has definitely re-sparked my love for the game, just relax and enjoy it and the rest came easy, i was also a good experience havin the low handicapper so i could see how the better players approach the green, i think he missed the green 2 or 3 times i was like :O he is so accurate with irons its unreal, if he had my distance he would be untouchable in our group of players

I need to practice more with my 52* wedge as i was uncomfortable hitting full shots with it today for some reason

EDIT: Also my putting was pretty good today, 3 putted on a couple of holes where i had landed an bad part of the green but other than that all was good

Also just a quick question,

My irons are all PX6.0 +1 inch and 2up, while my wedges are all standard length and lie with KBS wedge flex, I seem to push all full wedge shots to the right stightly, could this be because of the shaft and specs or is it something I'm doing?

Most people seem to think Wedge flex is a fairly weak flex, but in reality it is pretty stout. You could tinker with it, but my gut feeling is that its the golfer in this case, not the shaft.

Dan sounds like you found a way to enjoy the game and good for you! Keep it going buddy and if for some reason the wheels come off next time out, shake it off and remember this round. You got good golf in ya so believe it.

Good to hear, glad you had fun. Possibly extend the length in your wedges a bit but making them upright usually doesn't do any good because you will be altering the loft and lie so much for different shots anyways. As JB said, flex is fine.

Im sure this quote will be running through my head the next time i struggle a little, today after a bad hole everyones advice worked, just said to myself forget the last hole and move on (except the birdies :P)

I know i have the game now so confidence will play a big part with me i think, one issue today however was my distance, because i was confident, i was able to do my full swing and boy were those NXT Tours flying well, Last hole 140 yards on the gps, well uphill, the ball flies straight past and into the hedge, a PW would still have been a little long with that hit lol
