I would ship my clubs ahead of time to the hotel or to the golf course if they will take them. I have not had any clubs lost or stolen when checking them on a flight but I have not done that much either. I don't travel by air much. I have heard a lot of horror stories though about clubs being destroyed or lost (stolen probably) when checked on a flight.
