Default Handicapped golfers??
I have always wondered how many other golfers there are out there that golf with one arm. I never thought I would find a forum such as this with enough members to ask such a question. A lot of people tell me they have met others that play one handed. I haven't as of yet.. I would be interested in finding out what equipment they use, what changes they had to make, what kind of "struggles" they have had ect..

FYI, I am heading to Myrtle Beach is a couple of weeks. One of our friends who now lives there has a friend he met that also plays with one arm. We are suppose to get together and play 18.. Sounds funny but I am nervous as hell!!

It will be interesting..

I don't personally know anyone, however at our big company tournament each year at Myrtle Beach one of the golfers has a prosthetic leg. He can hit it a ton.

I was chatting with a guy at a course before the sun came up one day and noticed he had one arm as he was pulling his bag out of the trunk. He teed off before me, using a prosthetic. Had a nice tee shot and was gone. I still see him from time to time.

Im a mental case when Im on the golf course. My ADD gets the best of me out there moreso than anywhere Ive ever been.

Golf and Job interviews. I think thats why I enjoy the challenge so much.

I usually play with my dad and his buddies on Saturdays. One of the guys has a dead right arm (I don't know what the real term for it is...the arm is there, but is not functional at all from shoulder down). Basically he tucks the arm in his pocket and then goes on to play 1-armed. He's very good, too. I haven't really paid attention to what equipment he uses. I'm thinking he uses Burner irons, but I'm not sure.

I played with a guy who was missing his hand. he made a golf club holder to snap into his arm.

What about other disabilities? I have a eye issue. Cannot play alone, and need the others to watch my ball or I will lose it. Especially on light cloudy days. If I play in the mountains with a dark background its alot easier to see with the contrast.

I was lucky enough to gentleman who lost his arm in a car accident. He had never thought of playing golf prior to losing his arm in an auto-accident, but picked it up afterward thanks to his doctor.

He said he plays in adaptive tournaments for people with missing limbs. Was telling me about playing in his first one just before I met him. Said he always felt he did really well, considering his disability. He was teed up with a gentleman, and he told the guy he was planning on winning. The guy then crushed the ball down the fairway, and that was all she wrote. He said the guy was born without an arm, and had played golf all his life, and was a scratch golfer.

If you are hoping to meet other golfers like yourself, you might check around and see if you can't find any adaptive tournaments in your area.

Just a link I found, there are alot of different links that could be helpful.

This is great info. I had no idea this was available out there. It might be fun entering one of the tourneys closest to my home. Thanks!

check out this guy

I don't play with any handicapped golfers but have seen some handicapped people do some pretty inspirational things, things that are much harder than hitting the little white ball into the hole.
