Just curious about the common practices at everyone's private or public course about buying drinks after an ace?

Pretty standard to buy your playing group one round, but I was with a guy this year that got his first and we wound up buying for him.

When my wife got hers, I bought for the bar. And it was full. Amazingly, quite a few guys and gals declined. Cost me about $65 I think. That was at my last club. If it happened where I belong now during my men's club, I'm pretty sure everyone would drink. lol. Lots of lushes at this place.

At my course, the person making one always buys drinks for everyone in their group and everyone in the bar, at least the adults. Several jr's have made one and their parents were happy to buy everyone a coke.

I've been on the receiving end having been witness to a few or just being in the clubs bar at the right time, but I have not made one, so I have not had to buy. I'll be happy to buy everyone present a drink if and when it happens no matter the cost. Small cost for a rare feat. I'd be happy to pay up.

My course, a public, buys drinks for the hole in one winner and the golfers in his group.

So, last year I was playing behind 4 off the boat Irishmen. They were drink heavily throughout the round. One of them got a hole in one. I witnessed it and told them about the free drink policy. After the round I watched as the club owner tried to understand their drunken brogue. I explained and signed off as a witness and went home. Nest time I played the owner told me that they drank for hours, for free. Scary!

I buy a round whenever I hole out from more than 100 yards. 4 times in 40 years of golf. No hole in one yet. I will buy a round when I get 1.

At our muni I have never known anyone to buy. We don t have a bar, so it would only be beer or Cokes anyway.

My uncle plays at a large country club in Indy, he got a hole in one and said he hopes he never gets one there again...he said that after he was pretty much forced to buy drinks for everyone at the bar (they aren't cheap there), they then asked for the ball he used, with which they proceeded to put on a plaque for him with information about the hole it was used on (the plaque was about a 5X7) and they put a $200 charge on his account of the plaque. The hole in one cost him about $350. He can easily afford it, but man...the hole in one ended up being like a beautiful woman...you lust after one for so long and then when you get one it just takes all your money!

Being underage has benefits, but I would buy the bar drinks, would be nice to get the hole in one first though.

I have a group of buddies that I have known for a long time....there are 40 of us that have worked together or played softball together and we do outings twice a year...we reserve 10 tee times and drive somewhere within about 2 hours and play. Last year one of the guys made a hole in one and everybody decided that all 40 of us were his group...LOL...it cost him about $200 for that hole in one. His only saving grace was the hole in one won him a $96 skin!

I am a firm believer that the person knocking in the ace should have to buy the drinks.

I made one earlier this year, and bought my group some beers, and some of the other folks that came in later and talked to us that had seen it. Cost about $30....

Also have had some drinks bought buy the other guys that got one while we were on a nearby hole.

I agree, everyone should be drinking for free after an ace. If its a big group, just buy them each 1 drink. If it was my hole in one w. a smaller group, the Patron bottle wouldnt leave our table.
