Where do golf courses make their money?
Green fees? Cart fees? Equipment sales in the proshop? Equipment rental? The bar? Lessons? Driving range? Other? Could a course raise the cart fees high enough to encourage walkers (only) and still be financially viable? |

If I'm not mistaken... doesn't lesson revenue goes to the instructor who typically rents a stall or part of the range from the course? The course would make some money, but not much compared to their other services.
My 9-hole par 3 course probably makes it's money through the range and the food sales. Double-deck range and the prices are maybe up to 5 bucks less than a round. The course is usually slow so they probably make more money through multiple bucket customers. |

Almost all of the courses here a cart is included in your green fee, so I would say green fees. I guess in larger cities where they get a lot of driving range traffic or whatever they might make money in the pro shop but around here it's pretty slim pickings and nobody goes out to a course to buy any serious gear other than some golf balls while at the course or maybe a hat.
