Default Another 5 hour round
Well, 2 out of my last three rounds took 5 hours to play due to the group in front of us. In both cases the course marshall was no where to be found until it was too late. It's getting frustrating playing those types of rounds as I can't get into any rhythm and it's just not fun anymore. What's worse is both of those rounds cost over $120 dollars on high end courses.

How does everyone here deal with slow rounds as I'm getting fed up with them?

I adjust my pace to the pace of the course. I am pretty flexible with my pace, on an empty course I can play in 2 hours, on a crowded, very slow course I have no problem taking as much as 6 hours.

It's better than not being able to play at all.

5 hours is long. It sucks dude. There's really no way to make it not suck either imo. You could hit some extra balls or drink some beer, but that's about it.

For me I adjust as well. It can be tough because generally I play real quick. But patience is a virtue and it will actually help with your self-discipline on the course.
But if I may add 5-6 hours is a real long time. The worst/longest round for me was a 7.5 hour job....only played 16 holes the GPS on the cart said we were on pace (where the heck was I playing "Narnia") and when I asked about it afterwards in the Pro Shop... they said we were on pace...wtf!

4.5 is about my cutoff. After that I just can't help but be annoyed.

I try to adjust but it sometimes is too hard when you're on. When you hit fairway after fairway or green after green you can only do so much.

I can adjust my pace fine but when everybody is in golf carts and everybody behind us is stacking up on the same tee boxes as us it starts to get annoying.

I call the front desk and ask if the marshal can speed things up. Seems better than sitting there watching slugs.

I love golf, but I have a life. 5-6 hours is intolerable.

I think a lot depends on how I am playing at the time. If I am playing well I try and not let it affect me, but if I am playing poorly it gets to me.

I have tried the a-hole approach and drive the cart up to them and ask what is taking so long. Not a good idea....they play slower after that. I have tried to call the front desk with mixed results. When you catch them on a tee box they always say it is the group in front of them. No matter what I still played slow, so now it is just a part of the game sometimes. You don't want to hit into anyone and you don't want a scuffle so there isn't much more else to do.

Today was the Mountain course at Bear Mountain. The other one was the Olympic View course. The Bear Mountain one really surprised me since they have the GPS units in each cart. I figured once the group in front of us fell back a couple of holes the marshal would have come out but he didn't get there until the 14th green. Not much that can be done about it. I let the pro shop know and they apologized for it but I know that the pro shop can't do anything about that. It just sucks.

No, but I want to have fun and play well and when I don't because of slow play it gets frustrating.

You sound a little angry my friend. None of us like 5 hour rounds no matter why they happen. Yes everyone payed their money, but having recently played in a 5 hour scramble I know what it can do to your game. I don't think its ever ok to have a 5 hour round
