You are not alone. I actually made custom score cards with larger boxes so I could track each shot I took. I'm a little dissapointed in OOB because there aren't enough free stats to satisfy me. I've actually thought about creating my own tracking spreadsheets since that's what I do for a living. I'm a huge nerd when it comes to statistics.

I track my stats as well and my scorecard after a round is completely filled. :-)

Only stats I track are FIR's, GIR's & number of putts. Far as I am concerned anything else is a waste of time. But if you enjoy compiling tons of stats, go for it.

Seems like I plan to track a lot of stats every year but I get lax about it pretty early on.

I try to track my shots. I like to do a couple weeks at a time, take a couple weeks off then track again. I just like to see if I'm making any progess. I have a little memo pad I use to track shot yardage/shot result and the scorecard for the rest (number of puts, score). I did have an app in my Iphone (Golfshot I think) but I deleted it. Will probably reinstall it now that I think about it, worked really well and uploaded everything online.

I tend to track less things when the course is crowded. I dont like to feel rushed or slow anyone else up. I do like to golf during the week after 4 when the rates are cheaper and courses are pretty empty, so I'm normally able to track most of my rounds.

I want to start tracking my handicap but I have no idea how to do it. I use the yahoo system just to see an estimate of where I would fall.

I tracked FIR, GIR & Putts last year, but not sure I'll do a lot of it this year. Most of the time I'm with a group on one card which becomes a pain.

When it that situation I just keep a second scorecard & record my stats on it. Only takes a second to do.

I try to track basic stats as much as possible. It just tells me what to work on if I'm lagging behind on something and for a beginner like myself it's pretty important to know what to work on. I have my IPhone so I'm in the midst of trying different apps to see which is easy to use.

I may try that this year. It seem's like when I'm collecting the numbers I concentrate harder trying to reach better stats, lol. Almost like competing with myself.

I do this exact same thing Smallie, early on I'm all fired up and ready to keep track and before long it becomes an afterthought.

I track fairways, GIRs and putts. I don't do it every round, but I try to make a habit of it. I have found it very useful in determining what areas need a little more focus in the practice sessions.

I pretty much keep track of # of putts and overall score. Lately I have added my own stat called "DS" standing for dumb shot where I either lifted my head and I topped the ball and it went maybe 10 feet or did something else stupid that caused me to score higher on the hole. Lowering the # of putts ( which I have been doing) and the number of DS ( still have a few per round) is going to help me with my scoring.

I've started recording pretty much everything using an app on my iphone called GolfCard. It allows you to put it in club selection, distance off the tee, it tracks FIR, GIR, chips bunkers putts and does a rough calculation of your US index or UK handicap. Once you know how to put it in then it's easy to use. You can download courses from OOBGolf, or if they aren't on the site you can put them in directly to the app. I find it useful as I'm setting myself targets for FIR and GIR. I want to average 60% FIR and 50% GIR by the end of the year. Currently after 28 rounds i'm 57% FIR but only 23% GIR.

I tried this with one called TeeDroid Caddy, but my 8330 BB just had to much trouble locking in the satalites. I'd have to wait a minute or two and at times it never would lock. They said I was getting "Drift", lol. Some of my best shots, once downloaded to the map, showed me out into the street or about a block behind me.

The DS category is a great idea........ I may have to steal that one...

@ thedue I haven't tried the Rangefinder function on it - I think it uses up too much battery life. I'm more likely to get one of these niche GPS units that does the same thing, but much more efficiently. I won't get one until I move to Canada though.

@White Rhino - Great idea - my last hole today would have included 6 of those - Par 5, 6 on and 1 put for Double!!

I track FW's GIR's and Putts, when I enter it into my handicap system though it spits out a ton of data that I can use. I also enter my individual score on my handicap tracker for each hole so I can see my birdie percentage etc.

Feel free to. it actually does help me understand where I am having trouble, I might even try to scribble in what the shot was.

Nope. I became an OOB addict shortly after someone pointed the site out to me last year. I track score, fairways, playable drive, tee shot distance, approach distance, green hit or miss, pitches, chips, putts, first putt distance, putt made distance, penalty strokes, sand shots.

It sounds like alot but it's not that bad and OOB then calculates a bunch of other stats off the numbers like GIR etc.

I will drop some stats depending on the round. The putt distance stats are normally the first to go if I'm not playing solo.

I'll drop the distance stats if my GPS dies, lol.
