Has this happened to anyone? This probably sounds like whining.Yesterday I shot my lowest round ever(86,I'm a 20 HCP.) by two shots on the course I was playing.I left alot of strokes out there. On the fourth hole a par 500 yard dogleg right par 5,I hit driver to the right side, setting up a 220 yard second shot over a lake to a front pin.Usually I lay up left, but yesterday I said what the H&* and let fly.Hit a nice shot that I thought was wet,but it just cleared, and rolled to 3 feet for eagle. As a 20 handicap I haven't had many eagle putts, don't have many birdie putts(all I know about eagle putts are to not leave them short).I was nervous and rammed it 2 feet by.Made the comeback putt for a DISAPPOINTING BIRDIE?.Shot a 41 on the front 9,my best 9 hole stretch.Kept thinking of the large bird that got away.Back 9,didn't do much.Let quite a few opportunities slip by.On the 18th,a 490 yard par five,I hit my drive well, but a little left, leaving leaving me 240 to the middle,
with a small tree in front of me,trees to the left of me,and sand on both front
corners of the green.Again normally I would lay up to about 100 yards(but I was chunking or skulling those shots all day)so I pulled the same Nickent RC 4
Hybrid I used on the 4th hole(hitting it great all day)and absolutely NUTTEDthe shot(caught a bit of the small tree in front of me and landed 10 feet in front of the green between the two bunkers.Hit the eagle chip a little firm, hit part of the hole and went 15-20 feet past.I then proceeded to 3 jack for a bogey!!Entered the 18th hole score 0n Golfshot app and up pops my DISSAPOINTING best score ever!!
Hope I'm not whining to much, had to vent.
Vent away!

It's perfectly normal for this to happen and there isn't a player on this board who hasn't had it happen to him or her. Anytime you get to a point where you begin to play well enough to break out of your comfort zone it's usually a mixture of being super excited and scared to death.

The more you have this happen (and you will begin to have that happen more frequently now that you know you can), the more you'll get used to it and you'll begin to treat it as normal instead of special and you'll start dropping those putts instead of trying to steer them in.

It's all part of getting better at this game and it's a very good sign of things to come!

Thanks Guys,

There were alot of positives in my round yesterday.

Heck,I had been trying to break 90 until 6 weeks ago and have done it three times now so I'm improving.

Every time I play something good happens to bring me back, friendships, sometimes scoring, good shots, courses, wildlife, etc.

You will always leave shots out there on the golf course and thats one thing that should make you want to comeback for more and improve. Even the best of us have bad holes/shots that we know we shouldn't have and it's frustrating but it's something to work on and to look at before your next round.

I shot a 78 today and that included a dreadful 9 on the 15th SI 1 hole thanks to a ball OOB and a duffed PW. Would have had a much better score if it hadn't been for that hole. Par'd in from that point on though and that dropped my HI to 12.0 from 12.6 so not a bad day at the office.

There are many rounds where I will leave plenty of shots out there, it's what keeps us going back though isn't it

I think thats when I would have a hard time playing again. Once I've shot a round where I said "I couldn't have shot a stroke better", I think I will quit golf. Until then, I'm going to play as much as possible

Happens all the time, there are a lot of what ifs'. You just have to focus on the positives, I have been starting to steer away from that since I have been playing better and I let my last round really get away from me.

For my local HS Districts it's a 2 day event and the first day was extremely windy, the low score coming in a 76. I was +3 going into the last hole and I tripled the Par 3 by leaving in a terrible spot in the bunker. Missed the qualifying score the next day by 2 strokes.

Ya, I played today and had both my best score of the year AND my worst total putts of the year. Not a single 1-putt. Talk about leaving strokes out there.

Congrats on the PB! Its good to be critical of your round AFTER you are done. While its happening you can't take a "bad hole" to the next tee. That said to me there is no such thing as a bad birdie unless I was onthe lip for eagle and missed it lol. hang in there and set your sights on going lower.

Thanks for all the support guys!
I feel much better about the round and the progress I've made.
