Default Ball position on putts
I'm curious where everyone places the golf ball when putting. Is it in the middle of the stance, back or forward? Do you change the position based on the type of putt?
I play right to left putts further up in my stance and left to right putts back as well stand closer to the ball. What do you do?

I just kinda set up where it's comfortable. I think I'm slightly forward. But I really don't know. It probably changes from putt to putt

I've been trying to keep the ball more to the centre of my stance, listening to Dave Pelz. Also get my hands a little higher.

anywhere from left heel to middle of stance for me. All depends on what feels comfortable on the day and how I am putting

According to the guys at Scotty's, the best place for the ball is to be positioned under your left eye (for a righty).

I'm a terrible putter so take this with a grain of salt but won't that cause inconsistency with contact?

On the green or on short grass, in between center and my left foot. If I'm putting from a heavier fringe, I'll play it in between center and my right foot, to make sure I get contact with the ball first.

Being a lefty, I'm between my right eye and front hip....

So slightly forward of center.

Right below the bridge of my nose (checked using the drop the ball from there to land on the ball you want to putt drill).

Not for me. Im a feel player. Its never super different, maybe a 1/2 or 3/4 of a ball either way at most. Moving it all over your stance definintely will.
I'm a terrible putter so take this with a grain of salt but won't that cause inconsistency with contact?
People get so engrained on thinking they have to repeat the same motion over and over when really only 1 thing matters in golf, and thats being able to predict what is going to happen. Thats all. If being able to predict means doing the same thing every time, then have at it. For me its all about being comfortable over the golf ball. And as long as I know what Im going to do with the golf ball(hook slice whatever), I should be able to play it into my golf game.

I play a bit forward of center too. I have a friend who is a really good golfer who tells me to practice putting before I play. If I am missing my putts a little left, move the ball slightly back and if I'm missing right, move it slightly forward until I find the ideal ball position for that day. I think this actually works pretty good.

I play it a bit forward of center. Tried it all over the place in my stance, but this gives me the most consistent results.

I keep the ball under my left eye. It seems to help me get a better roll on the ball and it doesn't hop and skip after impact.
