Default Callaway Partners With Women On Course
This is a press release

Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY) today announced a national Mentoring Program with Women on Course, an organization that promotes the golf lifestyle to women in a social and inclusive environment. The Women on Course community has grown to 52,000 women golfers in more than 30 cities across the U.S. Callaway and Women on Course, longtime partners committed to growing the game of golf, developed a mentorship-training program that encourages avid women golfers to share their passion for the game by introducing others to the sport. Callaway Staff Professionals Tina Mickelson and Debbie Keller will participate in multiple Women on Course events throughout the country to help promote the mentoring program.

The Callaway and Women on Course Mentoring Program will prepare mentors by providing guidelines for learning the game of golf, including what to do before arriving at the course, and by encouraging a non-intimidating atmosphere for women to learn the rules of golf, get informed about proper equipment and even golf etiquette.

“The Callaway and Women on Course Mentoring Program is a great extension of our partnership that has introduced golf to thousands of women golfers over the years,” said Rhiona Sullivan, Marketing Coordinator, Callaway Golf Company. “We continue to be committed to the goals of Women on Course: introducing women to the game of golf in a fun and encouraging atmosphere.”

Now in its fifth year, Women on Course is dedicated to connecting and promoting participation in the golf lifestyle by highlighting the business, social and fitness benefits of the game. The organization’s nationwide events offer women golfers the opportunity to connect with the game beyond the course. At these events, women can meet other like-minded individuals. From beginners to seasoned golf veterans, Women on Course events welcome players of all skill levels to become a member.

Fantastic!
I am sending this link home so the wife can check this out.
She's already a golf fanatic and I know she'll be interested in this.
Thanks JB and Callaway !

This is great JB. I personally would love to see more women out there. We were just talking about this somewhat last Saturday. Golf entails so much more than just being on the course and is indeed a lifestyle. Great way to be introduced to it.

I've been to a couple of the Nine and Wine events in my area. They are a great way to grow the game for women in a very open and non-threatening way. Women on Course and the Executive Women's Golf Association both do an outstanding job of making beginners feel welcome on the course. The key for any women interested in either of these organizations is to find a section that is active. I go to Boston for the Women on Course events I attend because the Hartford chapter isn't active. The same with the EWGA I belong to. I don't belong to the one that is closest to me because they only meet 5 times a season. I

I'm excited that a major golf manufacturer like Callaway is partnering with Women on Course. It will make me definitely take a closer look at Callaway in the future because they are supporting growing women's golf so actively.

Mardin, does she like golf at all or if she does show any interest in it, how was her exerience on the course or driving range?

I became obsessed because I was lucky to play my first few times with my family at a course that was completely happy to see me on the course. Since then I've played on more courses than I would like to that really haven't been welcoming to women, either because the attitude in the pro shop when I would come in to inquire about walk on as a single was "um, we don't have any groups that are slow" (I'm a fast player. Most women I play with are too but assumption is women are slow) or in the fact that women's "locker room" was a single stall bathroom carved out of a broom closet, or the feeling of "OH, you are a woman so you must really not be serious" that is often directed my way.

If she wants to play, find a place where she can learn and have fun and not face scrutiny or attitude because she is a woman and/or a beginner.
