Do you learn from the poor shot? What not to do?

Not the way I'm geared. A great football coach NEVER tells a player "not to fumble". A great coach tells them to "hang on to the ball". You get no where with negative thoughts, more so in golf. I'll work off the good shots, not the bad.

When I hit a bad shot, I don't spend much time thinking about that shot. I may try to correct my bad swing with a practice swing. I learn more from my good shots, as few as they may be! If I've had the same shot before and hit it well, I'll think of how I hit that same good shot. If I have a shot that I've butchered before, I'll concentrate a little more to hit a better shot or try a different shot.

Both. Firstly I'm gonna go down in flames a few times. Then I'll hopefully find something that does work, AHA!... Nothing reinforces a lesson better than a scar.

I have been working hard on just remembering the good shots. I actually have an online journal and write them down and some days go back and visulize them prior to teeing off. It reinforces the subconscious to relate to good stuff and not the bad. Think only good thoughts

I think I learn from both my successes and my failures, but the most important thing for me on the course is confidence and that I can only get from success!

I learn more from my bad shots. I do not think much about the good shots as they were the result I expected most of the time. Obviously, never expecting to hit a bad shot I tend to think about what happened and what I can improve on.

Do not intend for that to come across as "I never hit bad shots". I hit bad shots all the time, I just never take a swing planning/expecting it......well except for when there is water left and right then I know I am screwed.
You get it! I've been playing the majority of my life and I learn more from misses than I do my good shots because I have practiced to hit good shots. When I hit a pull hook I know what went wrong and I van fix it so it won't happen next time, I hope!
I don't dwell on misses but build on them after my round. But it seems the majority only feed off good shots. I wonder how bad shots are fixed if they are not learned from.

I think I learn more from the good shots. Like "That's what a it feels like to hit off a firm front leg" or "nice job attacking it from the inside".

The bad shots just frustrate and lead to overcompensation for me.

If I dwelled on all my bad shots I would have quit long ago.

I like to follow something my Dad always says to me when we play together..."If you hit 1 good shot a hole, be happy. Could be the drive, the approach or even the putt. And if you hit 2 good shots a hole, count your blessings".

Was it Arnold Palmer that said he only hit 4 or 5 "good" shots a round on average? I remember reading that quote somewhere a while back...
