Do you learn from the poor shot? What not to do? |

When I hit a bad shot, I don't spend much time thinking about that shot. I may try to correct my bad swing with a practice swing. I learn more from my good shots, as few as they may be! If I've had the same shot before and hit it well, I'll think of how I hit that same good shot. If I have a shot that I've butchered before, I'll concentrate a little more to hit a better shot or try a different shot.

I learn more from my bad shots. I do not think much about the good shots as they were the result I expected most of the time. Obviously, never expecting to hit a bad shot I tend to think about what happened and what I can improve on. I don't dwell on misses but build on them after my round. But it seems the majority only feed off good shots. I wonder how bad shots are fixed if they are not learned from. |

If I dwelled on all my bad shots I would have quit long ago.
I like to follow something my Dad always says to me when we play together..."If you hit 1 good shot a hole, be happy. Could be the drive, the approach or even the putt. And if you hit 2 good shots a hole, count your blessings". Was it Arnold Palmer that said he only hit 4 or 5 "good" shots a round on average? I remember reading that quote somewhere a while back... |
