That's a great question! The mental part of my game needs more work than anything. For example, I play in an informal Sunday league, if I'm paired with folks who make me nervous I play poorly, if I'm paired with folks who I'm relaxed with I play well. Last Sunday it was the latter and I shot a 75 and also had an eagle. It drives me to distraction.
I'm more nervous playing with strangers. I know it's all in my head. It's something I need to work on...I don't have anything to prove. Ugh. |

i prefer playing with guys i dont know as you can always learn something new, played one day with a 2 hc'er on a solo round and he gave me some great advise esp putting but i'm involved in a pub society so i pretty much play with the same guys, but i have noticed that the guys who are more laid back and have a bit of a laugh i dont play as well as when i play with guys who are serious about there golf. i think its because i concentrate more and keep focused throughout the round. i also find i play better golf if i haven't played the course before as i have a tendency to over think my shots

I always seem to play better with people I don't know, I think it's because with my regulars we get pretty competitive so I try too hard.
Just today my buddy and I went out as a pair behind a couple of slower groups of 4, no one behind us for the first 8 holes. My buddy left after 10 because it was slow and he had to get to work so I played as a single until two older ladies caught up to me at 14 and we joined up to finish since we were waiting together anyway. I felt more relaxed, drives started hitting fairways and I enjoyed the last 5 holes with them. My scores showed it going par, birdie, bogie, bogie, par, which was a complete turn around from all the doubles and a few triples up to that point. I need to start playing with older ladies all the time haha. |

I play about the same. I've played a long time and played with plenty of people I didn't know well over the years. Not really a big issue with me. I can also play easily with any type of person, a doctor one day and a biker the next. I get along with anyone and everyone on the course. I not the type of person to discriminate for any reason. I like everyone.
