When I used to play golf all the time as a teenager I played off 8
Having just returned to the game is it right that I should start from 28 (default men's handicap for those without one) and then let my score cards work out what my current handicap is. There is no way that I can play to 8 at the moment but I don't want to take the mick out of my playing partners as I am not a 28 handicapper either My last 3 cards would put me off 18 but for some reason the online handicap site I am using has me playing off 23 at the moment Thoughts ??? That's what I really want to do but I am not a 23 handicapper either to be honest. Once I have played a few more rounds I am hoping that a proper handicap will be given to me
I just don't want to be getting given too many shots by my playing partners when we tee it up What online handicap system so you use btw? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk because I am away from my Mac |

How are you determining that you would be an 18? It's just they also have me playing off 23 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk because I am away from my Mac |

Not sure how you could have a handicap yet as most clubs require 5 or 6 scores minimum be turned in and then it has to be reviewed and a handicap issued, that usually happens maybe once a month depending on who is doing it. I have never heard of a men's default handicap, not sure what that is. I remember getting my first handicap after submitting 3 score cards when I was a junior (handciap was 16) |

Not sure I understand the issue. Your index is what it is if you are accurately posting scores. The only way to a lower index is by playing better golf. ![]() I have no issue playing to 23 as I know it will soon drop down to what I consider to be a more accurate representation. After 15+ years away and the fact that I am getting older, I can't expect to play golf to the standard that I used to play |

Just enter your scores into oob or something similar for bragging rights. It only takes 5 rounds to get a good idea. Mine went up for quite awhile as I logged em in till I got 20 rounds. If you don't agree with the numbers you can always adjust them to your liking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk because I am away from my Mac |

I am putting in accurate scores, guess I will just have to play to what the site is saying my current handicap is (time to take some money from the playing partners |

There is a reason the pro's have a 50 and over tour. We are no different. |
