The goal with 500 posts is to get active forum members. Not people signing up quickly to get their 500 posts, come to the event and then never to be seen again. People love conversation. They love banter. They love to talk golf. What they dont love is bumping every old thread from 2 years ago with 2 word answers just to get enough posts for an event. |

I see it happening too. Heck, I started out that way until some of these nice THPer's showed me the wisdom of my ways. And I have to say I'm glad they slapped me in the face and woke me up. I have gotten a lot of use information since I've joined. Heck, all i have been doing lately is coming to THP. It's like an addictive drug.

i think the most important part of this thread was in an online environment like this - its easy to say things in haste and possibly upset someone or a group of people. Its hard to express tone, sarcasm, or intent with just words. You may be thinking one thing and type out something else - and then meanings become all misconstrued. I know i am guilty of this - and posted things that i later wish i hadnt or wish i had completely thought them through before making a comment. Its easy to start typing and submit a post - only to realize it could be taken a different way - or thats just the way you are and you dont mean anything by it - but without actually knowing a person - or how they act; it comes across in a negative way. THP is a mature environment where people love to come to discuss our love of the game - from equipment to tournaments to favorite golfers etc. And it is run by two of the nicest, most professional people around. It is because of the maturity of this site that companies get involved and Send 118 lucky THP members free golf balls to test, or whole sets of irons months before their release (TM Forged Line). I know i am very guilty of this very thing and have to make a conscious effort to think about what i say before i hit POST, bc it is very easy to misunderstand INTENT in an online environment such as this.
Just my two cents!! Thank you for apologizing - that is a good step that most would not take the time to do; it is nice to see you act on that apology. |
