Default Cabin Fever: Where is the Golf?
From REMOVED LINK

Enough said. It happens every year, yet I always forget how much I despise it. The last few weekends have been dedicated to my 42” Samsung, as I watch the pro’s play courses in Hawaii, Cali, and now on to Arizona. What a tough life they live. Traveling the globe, playing the best courses our planet has to offer, and never having to utter the words, “winter coat,” unless for that Vail ski trip.
Seeing some highlights of the recent PGA Merchandise Show really gets me to the full capacity of my fever. As always, the big manufacturers delivered big, but some of the smaller players made a mark this year as well. There were some heads turned at the 2011 show with some fashion forward items from REMOVED LINK in their NYC catwalk meets the 1st tee ensembles. I’m all about the new trends and wearing something that your dad’s foursome is not, but I would feel a bit uneasy strutting around with some of their concoctions on. Are we trying to break 80, or partying in Milan?

After hearing about all the latest trends and breakthrough in technology, I too want some new toys. Since a lot of the new equipment is yet to hit the retail shops, what do I find myself doing as I’m stuck behind my laptop in 21 degree weather? Yes, you guessed right….ebay (www.ebay.com). The “fever de cabin” can make any grown man go shopping like a newly single girl on the rebound. Let’s just say by tomorrow evening I could be the new owner of some Callaway forged irons and a “still in the wrapper” R11 driver (I know, it’s gotta be hot right? No questions asked, it’s ok with me). Well, bad climates also help the economy I guess. If not for the blizzard-esk snowfall, I’d be at the range practicing my wedge game.
In response to the stir crazy madness that winter brings most of us golfers who have to take a hiatus for a quarter of the year….it can be good (did I say that?). Hitting the gym and staying fit for the months to come is a good way to keep your sanity when you can’t play a few holes after work. The pro’s are doing it to get better, and most amateurs are now as well. Every advantage that we can get to make our game a bit better, we will do. Did you already forget about that painted on golf shirt I’m going to have to wear later this year? Stay warm friends.
