Strive to have fun first. If you put too much pressure on yourself, you will fold like a lawn chair. As you are teeing off on the first hole, picture your dad and bro-in-law riding down the first fairway towards you, on dumb bo the elephant. You got to chuckle inside and the tension will be gone |

Good luck in your round Wednesday. Just keep a calm head and don't press things or try to pull off shots you don't have. Play to your strengths, what ever they are.
I learned a long long time ago it is always best to let others brag about YOUR game. Just play your game and don't worry about the others in your group. Stay in the moment and have a good time. |

well what can i say.
dummy came out the pram at the first tee! the mind games started we was to tee off at 10.26. the guy in the shop said we had a society behind us and we could go and tee off straight away 10.20. so we go to the first and i was up first so i select my club go to start a couple of stretches and practice swings and my dad pipes up hurry up we've got to get a move on you aint got time for that! so i went and tee'd off to slice my ball nicely right and that was it. i didnt enjoy myself lost my head although i hit some decent shots i lost it round the green. 3 putt nearly every green. got barracked all the way round with some snide remarks from my stepmums brother i wanted to punch him badly. but it aint put me off got a round booked in tomorrow on my own so i can play my way at my pace im first offf the tees so i wont hold anyone up. the only thing that bothered me was the fact neither of them could hit the ball propper but they had the experiance round the green. where it took me 5-6 shots from 5-10yards from the green it was taking them 2-4 |

just got to keep practicing man. i'd say that you need to spend at least 75% of your practice time dedicated to the short game (chipping/pitching/putting). imagine if you could get up and down more often, especially since it's taking them 2-4 shots to do so.
golf's the one game where you'll never be as good as you want to be or think you can be, trust me. just relax, keep working. it literally takes a lot of time and dedication. |

boss, just put your energy and thoughts into getting better at the game and try to forget the other players as opponents. Enjoy their good shots and observe what they do when they hit those shots and try to incorporate those things into your game. I guess basically I am saying relax and enjoy the game, don't put unnecessary stress on yourself while on the course. Do this and your scores will improve quickly.
