yeah, i know, but before that there was a lull, and completely understandable with the move and all. so far so good, there was an odd, repetitive "pinging" sound in the background, check that, it's still there. did you hear that?

Yes. Only on our end, so you wont hear it when the guest is talking. It only came in after editing. Working on the fix now.

*makes mental note not to hit next to GG on the driving range*

lol, that was too funny!

i also agree with a lot of what you guys were covering. i think amateurs have unrealistic expectations when it comes to golf. praciticing all the time is a good thing, unless you are working on the wrong stuff. i wish i lived closer to a golftec.

Just finished listening. Great show! Does anyone know what technology Golftec uses? Not that I'm saying they aren't accurate as I have NO idea, but I just read an article by Tom Wishon on fitting and he stated emphatically that TrackMan is the only monitor he trusts and most of the rest (especially those used by big box retailers are junk that totally mislead the consumer.

Again, I'm not trying to dis Golftec at all. I'm actually strongly inclined to have them do my fitting. But, after reading Tom's thoughts, I'm hesitant to make decisions and spend money based on Tech I can't know for certain is accurate. Thoughts?

You may want to research the bolded part a little more is all I will say.

I have found theirs to be VERY accurate and why wouldn't it be? Their only goal is to get someone better. If it was misleading, a person would not see better results and would not go back. Not exactly a great formula. And while Im on the subject, I guess the PGA Tour partnering with aboutGolf in some ways, and TMPL, and others Wishon thinks are off.

Again, check out the bolded part, because in my opinion (and only mine), someone is being a little misleading there as well.

Fair enough. JB, are you familiar with the 4 part article I'm referring to? People asking fitting questions directly to him. Interesting read, but not sure if it's something you'd rather not see linked here so I haven't. Please delete this if you'd prefer.

Im familiar with it. You can put it up, but I dont think it should be in the GolfTEC radio thread.

Like I said, its amazing what some people will say or do when it directly affects them. Im not disputing Wishon's claims about his Trackman. It has been tested 1000 times that many other devices are completely accurate. I wont debate the merits of trackman, because its a good device. With that said, its clear as day to me why he says such things, and I am a little surprised its not to everybody else as well.

JB and GG, I thought the show was excellent. Thank you very much. I agree that an unbiased person is needed to watch a person's swing. You just cannot see the small things that can gradually creep into your swing. With the combination of a second set of eyes AND the computer, a person can see and make the adjustments needed to start to correct their swing. And I am all for continuing brush up lessons to prevent the minor things that can grow into major mistakes. I am an opera singer. Many times I'll do opera in Europe. I usually come back and have voice lessons to correct vocal laziness that also creeps into my voice. That's why baseball has spring training, football has training camp, etc....

I think that everyone can benefit from lessons. As you guys said in the program, the pros have their swing gurus, so us mere mortals absolutely need lessons!!!

My guy used a vector pro, which I think is one of the best out there. could be wrong though. Then they have a slomo camera that I fell in love with, and a hitting mat that reads clubhead position and stuff. The also use ShaftOptimizer.
