Over the winter I usually bulk up by lifting heavy and I do as much cardio as I can stand. Around Feb-March time I back down the weight and lift with more dynamic movements that incorporate balance. As it gets closer to spring I increase my cardio and stretching to drop the natural insulation stored up from winter and get my flexibility back.
I don't know how people can stand Tony Horton and his programs. I only made it through a month before I gave up P90X I couldn't put up with his "cheesy-ness" over and over again. The movements are too isolated/repetitious for my taste (I know the program promotes progressive changes but it doesn't have enough dynamic movements to keep my interest). |

I can understand that cheesy-ness factor, trust me. The wife and I do it together tho, and we don't have to leave the house to do it. 30 minutes a night is perfect for me. Plus, I have never really worked out in a gym before, wouldn't know where to start, and this doesn't require that I have an entire set of gym equipment in my house. Just put the kids to bed, turn on the dvd, HIT MUTE, and get to work. 30 minutes later I'm done.
