Default Gambling on the course: An Education
I, however, am not the educator, but I need to be educated on all the most common bets/stakes made on the course. I am a gambling man (lost 2 in a row to JB this weekend for some small stakes) and I would like to get educated in this aspect of golf.

As a side note, I don't think that JB ever looses a bet...ever.

Closest to the fringe and closest to the post on the range with a wedge. Normally I would be competitive, but my wedge game was the worst in the world this weekend.

"Gambling is illegal at Bushwood....."

I don't know much about this but usually I play Wolf, a Nassau or just simple match play with front, back and overall at stake. I know there are many more games so this will be a great thread to learn for me.

Thanks!

We generally just do a quarter a hole, sometimes strokes, with carry overs. Once in a while we play the first on the green, closest to the hole, first in stuff, but not really crazy about that.

Now in the pool room I can come up with lots of wagers, lol. Last pocket is always fun, or bank to a corner games.

depends who I am with. Usually we will play 2 dollar front/back. 3 dollar total, 2 dollar birdies, 1 dollar sandies and closest to the pin(par or better). Teams of 2.

When I go on the Brews and Birdies outing with the 12 man group every year, we have tons of bets going on all the time.
Skins...kp's....long drives....sandies....pullies....birdies...wolf/pig...cart bets....4 some bets...etc...
It usually takes us almost an hour with the beer drinking after the round to settle up all the bets.

Ask TC. He knows the best way to gamble on the course.

To lose that much to me and still be smiling, it must be the right way right?

I want to make a lexicon in this thread of all the gambling types. Post a type of wager/bet and then explain it.

For example: Closest to the pin: whoever hits their shot closest to the pin wins the money

Pale Rider should never ever bet on the golf course! Especially to a dude that has a black shirt on his avatar

My golf coach from my High School team would always mess with us during practice. He would use the bets as a way to put "pressure" on us to make it seem like we were playing in a tournament and every shot counted.

His wagers would be to buy us sodas and snacks from the clubhouse.

Lost alot of money buying him junk food freshman year LOL.
