Default golf stat tracking
hey all I'm looking to keep track of my stats this summer to improve my game. GIR, putts, s/s, u/d, fairways etc. I have seen a few of you post about some online sites (links below) and would like more feedback on those. but I also am looking at what to take to the course to record these stats? I have found a few to purchase (links below) so far but am wondering if some of these websites already have prepared spread sheets or if you know of more or which are better. would love feedback on these and or any others that you use. I am not talking about pay sites for a legit handicap as I am not there yet with my game. I am converting to safe and smart golf instead of thinking I am Phil on every shot and want to document my progress and chart my major strengths and weakness to see where I need to improve to get better. thank you in advance as always for your great feedback and input!

I use golfshot as a part of my iPhone on the course, then plug my final score into oob golf to get a rough estimate of my handicap.

Both sites report all the stats I want but I find the handicap function in oob golf to be easier.

I use the oobgolf on my blackberry while at the course. It tracks my fairways, putts, penalties and sand shots and then it automatically tracks all my GIRs, birdies, pars, bogeys, etc. I could have it track much more, but that is all I care about.

Here is a picture of my scorecard. The first row of checks is the fairways and the second row is how many Greens I hit, the little mini-number above my actual score is the number of putts I had, I find this way the easiest.

If you have an iPhone, GolfShot is great, easy to use and has GPS tracking.

I second or third OOB Golf. On the scorecard, I track the following and then OOB figures it all out for me (not hard I know)
Score
Club off tee
Hit/Left/Right off tee (non par 3's)
Putts
#Sand Shots (ss)
#Penalty shots

I think it would be neat to have a stat tracking spreadsheet built onto this site. It could be setup so that you could share your stats if you wanted, or stay hiden and give a handicap index. I know different areas of the country use different indexes, so some would be off from their area, but would give averages per the site.

Thanks for the help! I'm going to start on OOBGolf today. I've just been using my own spreadsheets to track my handicap but this seems so much easier with much more information available.

Ok. i just tried OOBgolf.com. I set up my account and everything but then realized that I could not use Opera (my default web browser) to input scores. Internet explorer seems to work but I don't want to use that.. so on to something else... disappointing
