Looks good. Is this another one of the 'World' competitions like the 'World' Series? (ie a rather small world!)

I played in it last year and I'm going back this year. I know some guys that go every year. You will probably get to play 1 or 2 of the best courses in MB and some that are just average. But, just average is pretty darn good in MB. I think the 19th hole is overrated. But, if you like to try out new equipment and don't mind waiting in line for a variety of free food and drink, its ok. Also, David Feherty will be there this year - I think every evening - that will be an added bonus.

I've played the last 3 years. I agree with Gilligan on the course assignments. My take: Long rounds of golf. And bring good rain gear and rain gloves. Both will be needed. I'm not sure but I think the hours have been cut on the 19th hole...I've found it's best to go to the 19th hole a little later, about 8-8:30..The food lines are less as are the lines at the bar. Unlimited beer, liquor, pizza, ice cream as well as food from area restaurants. All the manufacturers are there with equipment to try. One year thay had 3 separate pros giving tips in sophisticated launch/video monitors..Pretty nice..All that for free...I only went there once last year. After your first year they discount your entry fee. If I was going this year, mine would have been $425..A good deal to play 4 nice courses (maybe 5 courses if you make it to the final round) and free food and drink at the 19th hole....I always had a good time. Best if you go with some friends...

The only problem is the sandbaggers, I have played it a few times, and there was always an issue with people trying to cheat. It was a pretty fun event. If you have a very low handicap, its almost impossible to win.

I thought they policed the baggers pretty well. It probably would be hard to win the entire tournament with a low handicap. But individual flights are very small spreads - maybe 1 or 2 index points. I think it would be harder to win individual flights with a high handicap. If you were an honest 18 - supposed to be playing against 48 other 18's - there would be a better chance of finding a few 12 to 15 handicaps sandbagging in there.

This looks like fun. Question for those of us that have never played a tournament... do you need to have clubs that conform to the 2010 grooves rule? I think my Nickents are not conforming...

No. The conforming rule, as it relates to amateurs, is only for USGA events.
