I am actually pretty calm on the course when things go badly. I'll usually laugh and try and work on some things that I need to work on. This attitude comes from not being able to play for 7 years. Makes you appreciate any time on the course even the bad times.

My language is usually mild, but I can rival a Tarentino character when it starts to go south. F Bombs, s words and some interesting combinations thereof insue.

Club throwing though, never. I have dropped my club in disgust though

I love this thread...... I just kinda talk to myself lol...... "Come on clay that was horrible." I really don't throw temper tantrums because my dad is very sensitive about them..... If I throw one, slam a club, or anything, we won't be playing more golf. We'll be on the way to the house.

I say Ooopsie and have an occasional grunt with a grr and move along. Haven't thrown my clubs and never will, I've just slammed the head into the grass a few times have stopped that fast! I do get frustrated with the BF because he continues to be a critic

I definitely swear when things go south with my game. Funny thing about it though, if I am golfing with strangers or my mum I seem to have great self control. I never use any physical actions such as throwing or hitting something. I was bad for that when I was younger and won't allow myself to go there again.

I will have a few choice words to say to myself, that's for sure. I normally don't say much until I am away from the rest of the group and cuss myself out good at times.

Lately I have been able to laugh at myself that keeps from getting too frustrated. When I really shank a shot I am almost laughing at myself before I even come up to look at the shot. When I can laugh at my own shots it will keep myself a lot looser and less likely to do it again on the next one.

I have invented curse words playing golf. The best I ever did during a round was when I played with my church. I think I made it to the 4th hole before I dropped the first F bomb. I just told a guy today that if I recorded the stuff I said during a round and filled up an arena for a comedy show, what comes out of my mouth would be funnier than any comedian alive. I don't throw clubs out of anger anymore, that costs too much.

When things get bad I usually issue a single expletive under my breath, maybe scold myself for lifting my head or some other textbook mistake I know better than to commit, and if it was a really bad shot perhaps even slam my club back into my bag with a bit more authority than usual. My frustration generally doesn't persist from one shot to the next. I can usually shake it off and refocus on the shot at hand rather than get more upset with each passing missed opportunity. That wasn't the case when I was younger. In my teens a few bad shots would often make me lapse into a sulking spell for two or three holes or until I played a good one.

A big learning experience for me was one game I played with my father years ago. He wasn't playing well that day (although better than me) Then on the 11th hole, our favourite on the course, the wheels really came off and he flipped out. Lots of swearing which I really wasn't used to hearing from him, and he did his best Barry Bonds impression trying to knock the ball through #12 and into the driving range (striking out). The outburst really ruined the day for both of us, but it changed my outlook completely and for the better - my worst day playing golf will always be better than my best day at the office.

I'm a bit of a swearer myself. It is something that I am DEFINITELY not proud of, and am trying to change. It gets really hard sometimes for example when you hit an awesome drive, and then flub the approach shot. That's when I drop the bad language.
