Default What do you do when you get frustrated on the course?
Title says it all. Are you a club thrower/tosser, bad words being said, take some deep breathes to calm down, or are you the guy/girl that blames it on your friend talking in your back swing

Also whats your worse story from getting mad?

I tend to say a few choice words to myself and toss a club every once in a while.(trying to work on this part though)

My worse story is playing with a group of friends and topping a 4 wood for the 6th time that day and throwing it and letting it go to late and it flys in the woods and we spend 30 minutes looking for it. lol

I'll yell but that's rare. It's more of a 'blow off steam' mechanism that seems to work for me. Gets all the negative energy out and hopefully reboots my golf game.

I don't throw anything but I curse myself quite a bit. The worst I have done was hit a railroad tie with a hybrid promptly snapping it. I snapped it on purpose and don't miss it a bit.

I'll say a choice word or two but I never throw my clubs. I know what I paid for them and would rather not make another investment if/when something breaks.

Once I get frustrated it takes me a few holes to get myself calmed down and back in as much of a groove as I can.

I usually have a few choice words for myself but I either quietly say them to myself or I modify them to be family friendly so I am not dropping F bombs on the course.

Perfect timing with this topic. VERY BAD day today. Should have stayed home; work been stressing me out, personal problems I'd rather not discuss, back problems, and I think I broke a toe a few days ago. Mind was everywhere else but my game. Long story short, game was terrible. I couldn't sink a putt into a manhole cover today; many 3-putts. On the 10th hole, I snapped. 4-putted the hole, launched a few f-bombs, and took a swing at my bag with my putter, snapping it in half.

Probably going to take a break from the game for a few weeks to "cool down". In the meantime, I'm going to blame the shirt I was wearing. The last time I wore this shirt, I accidentally broke one of my hybrids by misjudging how far away I was from a tree. I'm convinced now that the shirt is cursed and should be destroyed. I'm thinking of a few creative ways to destroy it and will put up a poll on that once I get a few good ideas.

I chastise myself and mutter under my breath about what a "dorkus" I am. I might smack myself with my club too. but I don't throw my club.

I definitely curse......but too myself and the only time I throw a club is around the green if I screw up a chip. I just toss it violently underhanded at my bag....haha!!
It also depends on who I play with, if my wife comes out it's just annoying, she doesn't play the whole round just plays the par 3's and when not playing she likes to talk smack and mess with me!! She knows how to get under my skin for sure!

I have to admit I have said some uglies on the golf course and probaly will do so in the future. I am careful about who I say certain things out loud with. If it's the regular guys they cuss as much if not more than I do. I have toned down the emotions quite a bit in the last year. Having blood pressure problems and now going for my heart stress test in the a.m. has taught me what's more important.

Now club throwing use to be an art back a few years back. I have not done this in a long time. I have helicoptered a Sand Wedge up to the top of a 150 ft pine tree back in the days ...... Not any more ,,,,, snakes don't belong in trees...... Equipment is not at fault, it's the player. Now I know that )

Foul language, directed at myself, which I try to keep entirely quiet ('in my head'), or which I mumble where (hopefully) noone can hear.

I am particularly fond of the 'serial swear', calling myself the top-3, top-5 or top-10 (depending on the severity of my golf-crime) worst words in the world in rapid succession.

I like to have a few "choice" words to myself at any or all languages. I never throw a club but I have thrown balls into various water hazards after the hole if I get frustrated with that ball.

Edit: If I had a nickel for every time I call myself an idiot during a round, I'd be rich right now.

This is one thing I'm doing much better with. I used to curse myself after missing easy putts. My friend recently fussed me out about putting myself down. My favorite saying was "You dumb %$!@!". LOL I haven't said it in over a month!!! It's eerie how calm I've been lately... I've never thrown a club but I've probably slammed one in the ground a few times along the way. Reading books about the mental game has helped me.

I've had days when I carpet bombed the entire 18 holes! It's only with the regulars I play with though, when I have to behave I just internalize it and cause slight brain embolisms!

Used to be a thrower, too much money in my bag now lol.

In all seriousness, I didn't play in HS and college (when I worked at a dang course) b/c of my anger issues. I've gotten better with them and golf is fun now. I try to give myself 10 seconds to cool down and then all thoughts are on the next shot.

I usually drop some colorful words and move on. BUT today I was extra upset about a wedge over the sand that ended up in the sand. So instead of carrying my wedge to the sand I decided to "place" it in the sand too. I mean it was the wedges fault. I dont like club tossing and dont do it because they cost money and they break.

I cuss no matter what. Just a day out with the guys, can't really help my language. But when i get angry it can get a bit louder.
