Default Best driver that is at least 18 months old??
In your opinion, what is the best driver that is at least 18 months old if not older??

Did Taylormade still have the market share 2 years ago?? (R7's and R5's?)

thx

I personally liked the 2nd generation Nike SUMO, I demo'd them all side by side for several days and for me personally the SUMO was by far the best performer.

JMHO? Ok, the very old Ping Eye 2 12*, 2 wood. Most of the younger crowd won't remember this club, but it was good one for the beginner up to, and including the seasoned pro.

As far as "Name Brand" manufacturers go, my choice would be my R7 425 TP.

Great shape, great weighting, great looks and perfect size.

If you're talking Aftermarket/Component, then the Maltby Logic Tradition M-350 wins hands down. In my opinion, it's the prettiest titanium driver ever made. 350cc head, beautiful pear shape and looks like a larger version of a classic persimmon driver complete with the face roll and bulge.

If you can get over the sound, I think the FT-I (I got the LCG Tour one in Neutral from Callawayused.com) is a great driver.

I don't think it's the longest out there, but for duffers like me, it really minimizes the punishment you make on heel / toe shots...

To answer your question, yes they did have the marketshare. However there are lots of great drivers that were made in that time. It really depends on the person though. The FTi was a great one if you do NOT fight a hook and want to keep it straight. The R7 CGB Max was a fabulous driver as well that was more along the lines of 16 months ago. I did not care for the last Nike, but that was more along the lines of 12 months ago while the one prior to that was 18 months ago I did really like other than the sound. There are so many that were extremely solid and many of the larger stores still have most of them in stock.

It is the driver I still use...Titleist 983E. I have yet to find a modern driver that I can hit longer, straighter, and more consistent.

I forgot about that one. You're right, that was a very nice driver and it had a great "look" too.

SO the FT-I tends toward a draw bias on most average swings??

Yes it does. For anybody that fights slicing, it can be a dream come true.

This is the third year I've been using the TM Burner HT, 2007 model. It replaced the TM 580XD, which I swore I'd be using forever. For me its the perfect blend of straight and long. Two of the guys I play with have switched to it, one with 10.5* loft, and they also swear by it.

The driver I am going to suggest is much older than 18 months. I just mothballed my old Ping SI 3 340cc.

I'm still partial to my BB 460.....when I hit it flush it just flies. May want to upgrade to something else next year that has a hotter face as well as get fitted to bring my launch down a bit.
