It was a great show. We came away with 5 sleeves of balls after all the giveaways and my wife won green fees for both of us on a course in Austria which we will try to use this summer. There are some great weekend/greenfee deals going on in Germany right now (59.00 for over night, 18 hole green fee and breakfast- at a 4 star resort).

Big line ups the Nike, TM and Callaway. I was surprised how much I liked the Machspeed driver and irons. I hated the TM Superfast- felt like swinging broom handle to me, hit the SuperTri pretty well but wasn't crazy about any of the TM irons. The Callaway line was so long I was only able to hit the Diablo driver- but that felt great.

The Cleveland both was empty. Strange. The guy said that Cleveland is just not as well known here. I did a lot better with DST Draw than with the regular DST, but I still couldn't get it right. The Niblick 56* though- really great club. The HB3's were really easy to use and, at least according the monitor are much longer than the Xlis. The CG7's are things of beauty! best looking irons of any at the show. My wife tried out an XLS Bloom driver since she figured after one lesson with a 7 iron she could use it. Told her if she could get it 100 yards on the monitor I would buy it for her. The result... she thinks maybe I am right about taking a few more lessons before using a driver.

Biggest surprise had to be the Wilson Staff booth. Inspired by Harry Longshanks I tried out the Smooth- and it is a really great club. On the monitor I was hitting it almost as long as my new Ping. The C19 Irons were REALLY nice and I thought the FYbirds were good too. The only thing they had I didn't like was the Shockwave driver. So maybe I am just not cut out for the 'ultralight' trend.

Lots of fashion and good food. Plenty of deals on golf condos in Spain, Portugal and Italy and even a single malt whiskey booth from Scotland.

So all in all a good time. First show ever for my wife (and my 9 month old), but I think they both enjoyed it. And now that she won the green fees in Austria, she wants to keep up the lessons so that she can play by August.

Great show, I went today to test for new irons and hybrids and it was a success!

People at the stands were very helpful and very friendly, except at the Taylormade stand. Very arrogant and snobbish people. I did test the R9 irons. These didn't work for me. It's safe to say I don't get along with taylormade people and clubs.

Also tested the cleveland cg7 bp irons and these hit great, love the feel and these irons are gorgeous! Only the grip is awful. The launcher hybrid was nice and easy to hit but nothing more than that.

Next up was Nike and WOW! The machspeed line is so easy to hit and the ball just explodes of the face.

Then onto calloway, really wanted to like the Diablo edge line and it hits great. Only it didn't suite me as well as the Nike line.

Finally I tested the mizuno mx 200, mx 300, the mx flihi hybrids and the mizuno mp 68 and 58 for good measure.

It was a close finish, but I found the MX 200 just a bit better than the cleveland cg7 bp and the grips are way better then the clevelands. In the end I hit the mizunos better and with changing the grip and the set options, the price difference between the MX200 and the CG7 BP is also to big.

I ordered the MX 200 today, can't wait until they're in and the weather is nice!

Nice choice with the 200's. I didn't try out the Mizuno stuff since I just bought the 950's. For me it would have been a toss up between the Wilsons, and the Machspeed irons. The Clevelands were the best looking, but not the best performing for me. Though I have to say the club I liked the very best at the whole show was the Niblick 56.

I am starting to like that one a little more.. although it has been a bit of a battle for me.

I'm with you Rhino! We can explore ALL the possibilities . I figure a lob wedge from the hot tub is considered a shot??

Hmmmmm....which punchline do I go with?

I don't consider that a water 'hazard' or 'that's not a lateral hazard, it's a vertical one?'

Never got out of the airport, did get into an argument with one of the locals in a giftshop though.

The Machspeeds were absolutely great to hit, the hybrid was the best at the show for me and the #3 and #4 are definitely going into my bag.

What I missed at the show was the opportunity to hit some putters, especially the cleveland classics BRZ's.

Yeah I was really hoping to see those BRZ putters too. Did you see the Yes! and Heavy putter area? The Yes! ones were really very good- but not cheap. And the Heavy ones had a huge sticker price. I wouldn't lay out that kind of cash for either. Especually knowing that the Cleveland ones are so much cheaper.
