Default Ever see it happen?
Well tomorrow the golf course closes at noon, so I plan on starting at nine and doing the full 18. they are usually pretty cool with people ending there round after they close. But who's to say that noone sneaks in after noon and plays for free? How do golf courses monitor who plays and when?

Golf courses are only open until noon? What?!?! Which ones? We're playing a full 18 tomorrow but our tee time is at 11:35am LOL

But I guess you're pretty much on the honor system. I know that when we played Scholl Canyon on Thanksgiving Day, we had to be done by 3pm. The Marshall was driving around making sure that people were on their way out!

Only open til noon because it's christmas eve, and in my small town the majority of the population goes out of town for the holidays....

I was walking 18 holes that took me past closing time. When I got to the front gate to go to my car, I found I was locked in. Actually this has happened twice to me at the same course. First time my wife was in the parking lot waiting for me, and told the employee I was still on the course at the 18th hole. He unlocked the gate to let me out.

This last time I had to do my "Jungle Jim" impersonation, and climb over the fence to get out. My timing was not the best, as a Metro prowl car just happen to see me, and had a few questions for me. Luckily I still had my dated receipt.

As for sneaking in after hours, golf courses where home owners back yards back up to the fairway, the golf course usually lets home owner's use the course for what ever reason after hours. so it would hard for them to distinguish between a home owner, and a non-home owner. Other courses in our area employ security guard(s) who drive golf carts around the course all night long to look for folks night golfing. Other courses allow free night golfing, if prior arrangements are made for small groups, but golf course owned equipment is not used, including the flags. Others charge for the same privilege.

With Vegas being the bright light city it is, the glare, or light splash tends to illuminate the valley just enough to where you can actually see enough at dark to golf. Not all the courses, but those nearer down town, and the strip. Couple that with some glow in the dark golf balls and a good time can be had.

The parking lot for my home course is at the end of a dead end street. They close and lock the gate so you can't get into the lot. You could park on the street, but it would be pretty obvious if a car was parked out there. Golf course on one side of the street and a juvenile detention center on the other. pretty easy to guess where the occupants of the vehicle are at.

Last time I golfed late, the sprinklers came on....with recycled water (yuck) anyways there is no gate closing in and at the time the sprinklers came on the flags were still in the holes, so i'm assuming they don't even remove the flags at night.....

Pretty easy to guess where the occupants of the vehicle are at.

I think it all depends on if they lock the parking lot and on whether your walking or not. Im sure the guys in the cart shack would be pretty pissed if someone was still out on the course and they had to wait around.
Ive had some summer nights where I have finished my round after everyone is gone but the courses that lock their gates usually send out a Marshall to sweep the course.

They don't allow anyone to use a cart after a certain time so I will probably end up walking it.....and i'm not quite sure what a marshall is but i'm pretty sure that no one is out there that late.

the only day our course is closed is christmas day...
other than that... as long as you dont have course equipment... golf cart/pull cart/ clubs... they really dont care especially if youre walking...
actually alot of the employees play on christmas day as long as the weather holds out

We close early on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day...We try and close around 2pm and let everyone know that they have to have rental equipment in before than. Our course is also in a community and the members make sure that nobody sneaks on the course after we close. We also close the pro shop at 6pm year round.

I've been out when everything was shut down and I was the only one on the course. I didn't feel like I was in the wrong since I was a member, but nobody was around to ask me any questions.
