Default Snacks on the Course
What do you recommend as good/easy snacks to eat while playing golf?

Sunflower seeds? haa haa, I see the shells all over the greens, so tacky

I always bring either a PB&J or a PB & Fluff sandwich on brioche bread. Sometimes I throw a couple mini Baby-Bel cheeses in my bag. I always have an extra breakfast bar and Jolly Ranchers too.

I usually carry an energy bar or two.

I would carry bananas, but they would be mush after a few holes. I don't know how the pros keep their bananas pristine.

(I left a banana in my jacket pocket one day while snowboarding. Completely forgot about it. When I got home, there was just a black banana peel and 2 jars' worth of banana baby-food in my [fleece lined] pocket.)

For me I have a stock pile of Nature Valley bars in my bag. They are just so good to snack on between holes and it gives me the little pick me up I need during a round. A banana or 2 on hot days.

I particularly like the "Oats and Honey" bars, but you have to have water to wash the dry things down.

I keep a few different snacks in my bag:

  • Trail Mix (peanuts, raisins, M&M's,
  • Granola Bar (Oats & Honey or Peanut Butter)
  • Peanut Butter wheat crackers
  • Peanut M&M's
  • Beef Jerky
  • Peanuts

I'll also keep the Crystal Light drink mixers in my bag, to help encourage me to drink more water on the course. I'm partial to the Banana/Strawberry. I will on occasion have a Diet Coke off the beverage cart.

I have to snack on the course quite a bit, or I'll get jittery and grumpy as my blood sugar drops (especially dramatic when I walk)

I'll usually have a ham/egg/cheese sandwich or breakfast burrito with the similar goodies washed down with a low sugar Monster (blue) before a round as well.

I usually have a choke sandwich, 10th tee bar, Nature Valley bar, apple or something like that. My bag has a cooler so I usually have some cold beverages iced down as well.

I usually carry a banann or 2 in my bag. They are cheap and a great way to keep your energy up.

Anything with oatmeal in it works best for me. Oatmeal releases energy into the golfer's system slower than raw sugar stuff like candy bars. I also like bananas, and apple slices.

I generally eat before I get to the course. I am no good if my tummy is rumblin' like Wnnie the Pooh. At the turn if hungry I will grab a pack of M&Ms or a granola bar witha bottle of water.

My wife turned me on to Cliff bars recently, she said they would be perfect to keep hunger away and to boost energy: They look like **** but I like them OK, and I have been taking them ever since.

During a round in September I joined a group of ladies on hole 2, and on hole 5 one of them yelled at me to 'come over here', from the other side of the fairway. I wasn't sure whether I had heard it right but she was gesturing me to come over when I looked, so I walked from right rough to left rough, with no clue what was going on! I figured she needed my help with something.... When I arrived, she held up a tupperware container with peach-slices with toothpicks in them! She must have sensed my vitamin-deficiency from 50 yards away: I thanked her, and ate it on the way back to my ball. It was a pretty good snack, and if I remember correctly I hit it hole-high after all that. Thank you again!

I don't usually snack while playing. A hot dog or brat at the turn maybe, but that's about it. I drink a lot of water if that counts.

I don't generally eat much, but need to. Never was a fan of "Bars", but I came across the Quaker bars "Chewy chocolate chip" granola bars and really like these.

The S'mores ones are good too.

I like the Clif Builder bars. Lots of calories, but also lots of protein.

I'll have to try them as well. I've just always stayed away from the grenola bars because they were always so dry and tasteless. But came across these at a convention this year in Vegas and liked them for once.
