Default GolfCard app for Iphone/Android...
Anyone else use this app to keep stats and track scores? Just wondering how other people use it and like it. Or if there are other apps with similar or better features.

I have it and used it a few times. Since I also carry a SkyCaddie, it was just too cumberesome, plus the phone has to be on and could still go off and distract me or my playing companions. I went back to the paper scorecard. I already have a AZGN account, so I can post my scores on line and keep my handicap without the OOB golf website.

Im not familiar with AZGN. Can you tell me a bit about it?

As for the SkyCaddie comparison, to you find it more accurate or are you just accustomed to it? Isnt there a yearly charge for its service and a charge for some courses?

Also, couldnt you mute the ringer of the phone?

I could mute the ringer, but it still makes some noise, not loud, but it could be distracting. The other thing is juggling all these different tools. The Skycaddie has a built in scoring system, but it is really difficult to use. Yes the Skycaddie does charge an annual fee ($50), but it is very accurate.

AZGN is Arizona's version of the GHIN handicapping service that is run by the USGA. I am a member of a men's club that gives me access to post my scores on that system for handicap purposes. The advantage is it allows me to keep a handicap that is verifiable for us in USGA tournaments, etc.

I haven't used it in a while, so I just noticed the range finder after reading your post. Not bad, but I still would rather use my Sky Caddie.

I use GolfShot on my iPhone. I bought it a while ago. It is decent for keeping stats but as a rangefinder is a pretty bad. I think that may be an issue with my GPS chip, not sure. It is really bad for battery life, it can often be wrong with the yardage, and if you don't have a 3G signal you can't download the overhead view.

Overall for 30 dollars I would give it very low marks.

The problem I see with these are they drain the battery too fast. Or am I wrong? Im just speculating as I dont have one yet on my Droid. 18 holes is a long time for an app thats very battery intensive and also using the GPS too. Thats why I want the Garmin.
