When I lived in Arkansas and had just started playing, I went through a lot of balls. I bought a retreiver and when I ran low on balls, I would walk a local course that had 3 clear water creeks braided through the course. Without much work, I could barely drag my bag up the 18th. Before anyone goes crazy, I would do this late in the day when I was about the only one on the course and there were so many balls in the creeks that I didn't really have to "search".

i have always carried one. mine is pretty compact so it fits in the long side pocket of my bag with ease and weighs about half a pound maybe. i guess i have always had one since i was little so it just always had a place in the bag. i still use it on occasion though because it seems like my miss in the water is still reasonably close to the edge

I've never purchased a retriever, but I won one at an event last year. It telescopes, so you can't see it, and I tend to forget it's there. Since I won it, I've never hit a ball in the water. And by saying that, I have just cursed myself for tomorrow's round. ![]() |
