Harvey Penick wrote that calluses were caused by the club's grip twisting in the golfer's hand(s). I don't think I could generate an argument against anything he put into print. I don't have any calluses that are golf related. I do wear two gloves most of the time, so maybe that is the reason. I do have one callus that is at bottom of my left, ring finger. This one is caused by another hobby I frequent that sometimes involves a pick, and shovel.

I'm surprised so many of you don't wear gloves. |

I don't agree with Penick. If you hit as many balls as I do, you are going to get callouses. I have them on the heel pad of my right hand and on the first finger of my right hand. I only wear a glove to hit driver, them put it in my back pocket until the next tee. I normally play tour wrap grips which keep the callouses down, but they are still there.
