Default Golf Callus
Where is yours?

Mine is on my right hand, up by the nail on the pinkie side of my middle finger.

I don't have any - I was starting to, but I learned to not hold the club so tightly.

Right under my ring finger on my left hand. My wedding band that I wear under my glove (if I forget to take it off) causes it.

Left hand, at the base of the ring finger. I get two on the bumps where the palm meets the ring finger.

Same as JB. I've started taking the ring off before I start.

Harvey Penick wrote that calluses were caused by the club's grip twisting in the golfer's hand(s). I don't think I could generate an argument against anything he put into print. I don't have any calluses that are golf related. I do wear two gloves most of the time, so maybe that is the reason. I do have one callus that is at bottom of my left, ring finger. This one is caused by another hobby I frequent that sometimes involves a pick, and shovel.

My hands are pretty calloused to begin with, I don't notice any more new ones.

As for my wedding ring, it's a part of me, I never take it off. I can count the number of times I've taken it off in the last 7 years on one hand.

I was getting them all over my right hand. When I finally thought to change gloves, they went away pronto.

No golf related calluses. I don't wear a glove, and I never get blisters or calluses. I too go with the Harvey Penick theory that if you do get calluses then there is something not right with your grip.

I hit upwards of 1,000 balls a week at the range and use corded grips. I usually don't wear a glove on the range wither so I have calluses all over the place. My hand modeling days may be behind me. I guess I will join the ranks of Ray McKigney and George Costanza.

Just like the others, my callous is on my left hand, just under my ring finger. I don't wear a glove, and I never take my ring off when playing golf.

I'm surprised so many of you don't wear gloves.

I wore a glove when I first started playing, but only because everyone else did. As long as I keep my grips clean - and I always do - the tackiness of the grips is just right for me so I don't have hold the club too tight. I used to take my glove off for chips and putts because I had better feel, so eventually I got tired of "glove on, glove off", and stopped wearing them altogether.

I've played without a glove when I've forgotten one, but prefer to wear one. To be honest - I really don't want my hands to get callused.

The fingers of my left hand have been calloused for all of my adult life. Callouses don't bother me at all. Until they tear off.

I can understand that, but I prefer for my hands to be soft. Must be a woman thing.

I don't agree with Penick. If you hit as many balls as I do, you are going to get callouses. I have them on the heel pad of my right hand and on the first finger of my right hand. I only wear a glove to hit driver, them put it in my back pocket until the next tee. I normally play tour wrap grips which keep the callouses down, but they are still there.

Same here, Ive always had them. From golf I get most of them on my non glove hand. I used to get a lot of them when I rode dirt bikes more often.
