Default Metro Golf
Just thought i'd report on a fun experience i had last night, a bit unexpected but definitely something i'll repeat! My flatmate returned from work last night and invited me to a place in Paddington (West of London) where there is "indoor golf", any way i was lying on the couch and, as always, the first mutterings of golf had me leaping off the couch and searching for a glove! When we arrived i was nicely surprised, first off it's called Metro Golf and is basically 8 simulators where you can play a manner of different courses, indoors, with really clubs and, most importantantly, have a few beers. I won't go into too much detail, as maybe these places have been reviewed before, but where i was sceptical as to the accuracy beforehand i'm now a believer. I've been working with my tutor on getting rid of the low snap hook i've seemingly adopted (swing far too much inside) and have been weakening my grip and swinging more upright. I was at the range on Tuesday night and the shot pattern was exactly the same as last night, same distances, a touch of fade. The best thing was we played Pebble Beach!

Anyway, this is something i'm surprised there isn't more off in cities where space is at a premium, sure it's no substitute to hitting balls down the range, but it definitely helps with having to hit shots into greens and considering the shot rather than aimlessly hitting drive after drive on the range. It cost us £24 each (there were three of us) for 2 hours with 3 or 4 beers each. The equipment was either TM r7 irons or Mizuno MX-200's with a range of different woods. My flatmate who tends to hit her irons very poorly had the realisation last night that woods are the way to go. She'd never hit one before as she found them intimidating, last night she boomed a 170 drive! i think it's the furthest she's ever hit one! We;ll be back soon..!

I'd love to try one of those places. The only one I have been to was in a bar and had only a few clubs instead of sets. This sounds like a much better quality set up. Nice.

Yeah, it was really good. They also do lessons and custom fitting i think. And they were showing the football!

You are lucky. You get to watch quality football and be surrounded by fans of the sport. Over here football requires helmets. I love watching American football, but the dedication to the sport pales in comparison the the real football as observed in the rest of the world. ESPN has just started airing premeirship soccer. I need to start watching and find a team to root for. (of course all of this is assuming you are talking about soccer football and not football football)

Sorry to jump OT. That sounds like a great time! While I would rather play a real course regularly, this sounds like great fun where a person doesn't have to get mad and frustrated when they hit a horrid shot.

yes we were watching the football without the helmets (as i'm english i struggle with the s word!) If your looking for a football team to support go for Tottenham (Spurs), fan base is very local and loyal have a great manager and are pushing for a top 4 spot this year meaning Champions League football (all being well) next season. Ok, i'm a Spurs fan!

Sorry way OT.

We have one of those facilities here in Cincinnati. I've never been, but I'm going to try it out this winter.

We played in one in Reno, NV at the Grand Sierra Resort. They have a driving range outside and then inside they have this place. I can't remember exactly how many stations there were, but the best part is we used our own clubs. They are basically just the fitting monitors they use when fitting your clubs. We did as you, ate, drank and watched Monday Night Football the night we were there. Good times! One of the only places were you can just let it rip without regards to houses, etc.

Several of my friends play in an indoor league - it started a few weeks ago. They play 6 holes and take gimmes within a foot. It's an hour from me and quite frankly I don't want to pay $40 per week to play on a simulator, but they enjoy it. I think they drink while they're playing.
