Is there something wrong with stepping away? I'm getting the feeling it's seen as cheating or something.
Nothing at all wrong with stepping away. Some people (me included) just have trouble doing it, even if they are uncomfortable over the ball.

There are some good questions that can come out of this. Do you EVER step away from a shot? Have the results been more positive or negative? Why do you step away? Weather, wrong club, lack of feel, all of the above? Professionals step away all the time. Tiger's obsessed with the wind. Jim Furyk is a "step away freakazoid."

Do you routinely/intermittently/or never step away from a shot?
I ocassionally do it mainly because:

-Seen a distraction
-Loss of Line
-Rethink the shot
-Unusual gust of wind

Usually it happens on my drive because of lack of confidence.

You're afraid of bees.
No - I'm allergic to them - vespids to be exact. I'm fortunate in that everyone I play with knows and will wait if I step away or will shoo the bee away for me. When I played with Claire - she shooed two bees away.

Then you should be afraid of them. Is posting in bold colors like talking loud? Similar to all caps being shouting? Just wondering.

If I allowed myself to be afraid - I wouldn't go outside. I carry 3 Epi-pens when I play golf - I'm good.

The colors are a holdover from being a kid. I always wrote in different color pens. I still do at work today and home today - I usually match my color pen to what I'm wearing. Here - I the colors reflect my mood or what I'm writing about.
