Default Great night last night - first time walking with Mrs. 92
Mrs. 92 and I took up golf last summer. I've become a bit more smitten than she has, but she still enjoys going now and then. We decided that we'd try to get out on a Saturday evening, and found that the best time to play is while college football is on. We didn't quite have the course to ourselves, but we only encountered two other groups and were able to play 18 in slightly under 4 hours.

This was Mrs. 92's first time walking. We normally get a cart when we play together. I normally walk when I go by myself. I carried, we rented her one of the junk pull carts, but it worked. She commented several times that she enjoyed walking more than riding. She said she got a much better feel for the course while walking.

She played the Pink Precepts that she won on the charity contest, and said those are the best-feeling balls she's played yet. She also par-ed two holes back-to-back, something she (or I) have never done before.

Unlike the day before where my irons, wedges, and putting were great, last night I was driving like never before but couldn't hit an iron to save my life. I kept falling out of my swing. I had one drive that I had to apologize for. We thought the group ahead of us was more than a hole up front. It turned out they were behind a hill hitting their approach shots on a 320 yard par 4, and I couldnt' see them. They were about 30 yards off the green. My ball landed right behind them. Oops, but GO ME!

All in all it was a great night, we had a really good time, and now Mrs. 92 would like a push cart. Clicgear, I think.

Lucky you, Mrs DefCon1 has yet to see our son play and he's been on his high school golf team for three years and took up the game about six years ago. Our practice facility has a nice nine hole course that she could walk with us, but...

that's so great that you all could get out there and have such a good time. I love getting out there when there are very few people out and you can just enjoy the course and the company you are with.

Walking is definitely the way to go when you're learning. The only times I don't like to walk are when it's really hot or during bee season in the Fall.

I love to walk the course. When I was a member at a club, I really liked to go out late in the evening and walk until it you couldn't follow the track of the ball anymore. Some of my favorite memories are of those evenings.

I'm jealous - I wish Mrs. Bonknhead would pick up golf. She doesn't mind me playing and will occasionally watch a tourney with me, but she has NO desire to play. Oh well, there's a lot of things that we do together already.

My wife used to go with me and drive the cart. I really enjoyed that. Many skeletal health issues have put a halt to that activity, but I still miss it. She did manage to make it earlier this year when I played in the City Championships and drove the cart for me in the final two rounds. It was heaven.

too bad there aren't enough women around here who would like to do that. I swear the next person I date, she must have an interest in golf

I'm surprised you haven't met anyone on the course. I've played with guys who have asked me to play golf with them. I think you have to go as a single when you play though.
