Default Florida Golf Trip
I just returned from a few days in Orlando and had a chance to play a couple of courses there. Played Grande Lakes (G. Norman design). I have played this a few times because it is on the property of the hotel where I stay. I had a forecaddie who gave me some great tips to improve my game but one of the things he kept doing was handing me my driver which I dont use too much because I can be extremely erratic. The funny part was I was nailing the driver on the practice range and lost the swing between the range and the first tee box. Oh well, I will be at the range this week tyring it again.

I also made an effort to get out and play some other courses and made it over to Orange County National. I was extremely impressed with the entire facility from the bag check to the condition of the course to the Pro Shop and Clubhouse. I played Panther Lake and had a great time and a pretty good round there by my standards anyway. My goal was to break 100. I shot a 95 which I felt pretty good about not having seen the course before. I had shot a 76 through 15 and the wheels just fell off on 16, 17, and 18....guess I just couldnt handle the pressure

I would recommend you put Panther Lake on your must play list. I will be returning in a few weeks and will play Crooked Cat the other course at OCN. I am sure it will be equally enjoyable.

Congrats Keith. Sounds like a great time. I still wish you had made it over to Tampa as planned a couple of weeks back, but glad to hear you are feeling better.

Let us know if you are still planning on making it down here and I will make the tee time. Glad to here that FL treated you well.

I played the Crooked Cat course at Orange County National a few months ago when I was visiting Florida. I enjoyed it quite a bit (well, at least until the back nine kicked my rear). Might try Panther Lake next time I go.

Hey D-Rock that is what everyone at OCN was telling me that Crooked Cat sort of fools you on the front nine and the back nine is a beast. I cant wait to try that one.

Yeah, that is exactly how it felt to me. I don't mind being challenged as long as every hole isn't that way. It had a pretty good mixture.

I played both of those last year when I was visiting FL...
I only had one day, so I got in all 36..
From what I remember it was very enjoyable..
Shot an 88 on Panther and 89 on Crooked Cat...from the Blues....
And you are right..they had a really nice facility...
