They are skorts, but the shorts underneath aren't necessarily compression shorts. None of mine are.

I think I've figured it out - those of us who grew up playing golf and have mothers who play tend to call them golf skirts while people who are new to the game use the newer industry term skort.

what's underneath?
They're more like lining material made into shorts. Definitely not compression shorts.

Spoiler With the pair I had on yesterday, the shorts material kept riding up my legs.
