I do have a question off what you said, Craig...I posted about it a while ago and no one responded.
http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...ad.php?p=91059 Do you guys think anyone playing off a closer tee should be able to earn the Honor? I've never been allowed the honor (for the reason that then we'd have to turn around and go backwards). |

Julie,
I think depending on course layout it can be allowed. At our course, it simply is not really done because the red tees are usually 50-100 yards in front of the middle tees and because of pace of play it is not well accepted. However this was debated before and "earning the honor" is really only set up between people playing at the same tee boxes. |

If you were playing from the middle tees, would you expect the group behind you to come and warm up at the tee box behind you? I've never had that happen, if I'm at the women's tees or with someone at the middle tees, I've never had someone warm up or chat about the shot behind me. They always wait to the side or sit on the benches or something. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like strange behavior on the part of those two guys. properly "give them the tee". the two guys we were paired with pulled up to the middle tee while the women were on the forward tee My point has gone missed on you Julie in the fact that I did more than my fair share to show these ladies respect, even going as far as telling two complete strangers to clam it while these ladies were ABOUT to tee off(before they were addressing the ball). |

On my course in my experience, women are the only people that never let us (meaning my group of fast golfers) play through. Not always and certainly not everywhere, but it seems at my club, it is what it is. |

Craig,
no, I didn't say you were responsible for the guys. I asked a separate question, if anyone has had someone pull up to a tee box while they were preparing to tee off. I've never played a very, very busy course, so that might be common practice. The point was not lost, it was good of you to keep them quiet and be nice. I just tend to think there are two sides to stories, and can kind of sympathize if that was their first impression of your group, and they don't know you were two separate pairings. Craig and JB, Fair enough on the honor point. We're by no means experts so I'm always curious what others do. I'll on occasion play with a couple guys who tee from the same spot. They'll always play the honor, and it looks like fun, a little rivalry going. Usually time or two out of the round I win it...but of course I don't get to do it...it's just kind of a bummer, I think I would enjoy being involved in that. |

We play each morning and usually there are only 1-2 groups in front of us. The only group that does NOT let us play through is the group of ladies. It is their choice and we respect their game. But they NEVER have let us play through.
We actually check to find out their tee time now (its about 12 women and they get 4 of them each day together) before scheduling our day. Again its just my course I am sure, but it is very frustrating. I am all for women on the golf course. I love that my wife plays and encourage more women to play each and every day. However we hope that everybody also plays by the same rules and follows the same etiquette. |
