Default Final Impressions of U.S. Open
I thought it was pretty good tournament. Having new faces being dsicussed by the talking heads was refreshing. And the storyline of Phil and his quest to get the trophy along with the comeback of Dvid Duval was great. It took a few days for this one to begin to feel like a real golf torunament but the last day was pretty good. I think the crowd wasnt given enough credit for making the tournament what it was. Those New Yorkers really stuck it out and in the end did get a chance to see some really good golf. I also have a new respect for the grounds crew. The biggest heroes were the members of the grounds crew. They made eveything possible. I never knew the efforts they undertake to get a coure ready. They deserve a trophy of their own.

While I enjoyed the Open as a whole, I thought it was the worst produced sports television I've ever seen. We were so confused what was live, current, or not. They'd say "and now we go live to Tiger!" or whoever, and it wasn't live, it was highlights from yesterday or earlier that day or another year or some random thing they threw up there. It's so hard to superimpose "TAPED" in the top corner? I'd text a friend and say "did you see that shot?!" and he'd say "it's on rain delay" cause he was streaming from a different spot...lame. And the "Live Leaderboard?" If "live" now means "updated 7-10 minutes ago," sure.

A disastrous mess of trying to present a good show. They deserve the millions of dollars lost in the blow to ratings of having lost a Tiger and Phil Sunday - Fathers Day - of network golf. It was just as worth it to skip watching on Sunday altogether.

But, not the golfers' faults - good show, guys!

ya hats off to the grounds crew for all the work they did especially thursday. to be honest, ya great job lucas glover, but i honestly didn't really want him to win. after tiger was out of the mix, i was pulling for one of 3 scenarios any of which could have come from an 18 hole playoff. but i wanted one of the following: Phil to pull off the huge win for his wife, himself, and the rest of the world after finishing runner up 4 times, make that 5 now. Ricky Barnes to be the new talk on tour that surfaced with a bang, since his best finish so far is like a tie for 20 something, make that a 76 final round to lose by 1. Or David Duval to put the cap on his what seemed like never ending slump with a US Open win and prove that his game really is back, make that close but just a little short. There were a just too many great stories to be had for Lucas Glover to win it by 1 and just walk off the green with pleased look. just my opinions of the magic that could have played out but didnt

Wow, tell us how you really feel. Do you have any numbers that show the "millions of dollars lost"? It is extremely hard to "produce"(as you put it) a live broadcast that the weather completely messes up. NBC/ESPN did way more hours(and days!) than anticipated. I watched a lot of it and had no problem figuring out what was live and what wasn't. The only downside was listening to Miller's rambling on and on about the same old things like always complaining about players not chipping with 8 irons around the greens.

Hats off to the Grounds Crew. They did a remarkable job getting this course ready for play.

It was awsome to watch DD in the hunt again.Hopefully this will be the confidence booster that he needed and will will see more good rounds from him.

Harshly put, I found the efforts of the grounds crew (and also the drunken fans late in the afternoon) to be the most interesting aspects of this years US open.
By about the halfway maker of the final round I was dreading the possibility of another 18 holes to endure, and that's never a good sign.

Phil had a bit of a pseudo-surge, that almost had me interested. But, in all honesty, I wanted anybody to win other than Glover/Barnes. The fact that one of them did eventually flop over the line win put a bit of a dampener on it for me.

I thought the grounds crew did a great job. I am not sure how I feel about the loud new york crowd....it reminds me so much of my family ha ha. I really wanted to see Phil win. I just hate that two years in a row now I haven't been able to watch the final round of the US open because I have been working!

not sure if it would have made a difference, but a birdie on 18 by Mickelson or Duval would have spiced it up a bit... I can't believe Phil could not get closer than that from only 60yds away...

Whoever though of putting that flag there on a short Par4 is a genius IMHO... Bring in a bunch of pumped up golfers on #18 in Round 4 and no one could really dial it in close to the pin....
