Default Why do hindu wears bindi?
I am curious to know why Hindu ladies wear bindi. Is it just related to forehead decoration or it’s something else? What I know is it is a bright dot of red color applied on the forehead between the two eyebrows.

Bindi has its own significance and has nothing to do with decoration or make-up. The spot where they wore bindi is considered a major nerve point in human body. And also it is an auspicious sign of marriage for an Indian woman.

According to hindu belief human body is divided into seven vortices of energy, called chakras, beginning from base of spine to the top of the head. The spot between eyebrows is said to be the sixth chakra, Agna is believed to be seat of concealed wisdom.

Yeah bindi has its spiritual significance but it's also true that now days girls wear bindi as decoration and make-up. The traditional red bindi and sandal tilak were only seen in movies and serials. Today girls look for fancy and designer bindi.
