ok, the last two times i've loaded up my homepage i saw two articles salmming avatar, but not for the reasons you think, one said avatar was rascist, and the other said the vatican was giving their two cents.

in a nutshell: avatar is rasicst because it's about a white guy who goes over to a "Native tribe", "becomes one of them", and "saves them"

and it's anti-religion because the aliens "worship nature" and that makes jesus cry.

do people really have nothing better to do? can't we just enjoy a freaking movie?

oh and i'm starting a new movement against Ghost Rider because it is offensive to flaming-skull headed americans.

my fav story is about how the chinese government doesnt like the movie because it is currently a common practice to relocate entire villages when the government is ready to expand its cities or transportation infrastructure. same thing we did with the native americans but china gets easily offended by anything that even indirectly criticizes the government

People really do have nothing better to do. A lot of the time I hear stories of people crying over movies, shows, games, anything and how they view it as "bad" in some way or another. I can't even imagine watching something like avatar and being offended by it.

Heard from my bro that the movie was ok, but didn't live up to the fifteen-years-in-production expectation or whatever. Personally, I was slightly surprised and glad that they at least tried to make the film address issues and concerns of our time, kinda like what Blade Runner was trying to do back in its days. It's a great way to make people appreciate how lucky we are to be able to live on this planet.

As for people being offended by the movie... It can easily be compared to the situation where TCG cards are editted. Diff cultures perceive things differently, accept diff things and get offended by diff things. It's just the way things are.

i didn't say the CHINESE suck i said CHINA sux, as in such restricted government control you have to file a form in triplicate to take a crap. AND i did not say the movie was rascist the whole post is about the lunacy of the IDEA of it being rascist.
