Very happy to see John Hawkes on that list, he was riveting in Winter's Bone. Has anyone seen Animal Kingdom? I'm not familiar with either the film or Jacki Weaver, kind of curious to check it out now. And re: Supporting Actress/Black Swan, Hershey >>> Kunis if either were to get nominated. Also, I haven't seen Blue Valentine, but I have a hunch Gosling may have been SBO based on what I've read. I think that may be the next film I go see.

Jessie Eisenberg, are you fucking kidding me?!?
![]() Put me in the team Lawrence and Hawkes camp and everything Winter's Bone- and I still have to see The King's Speech, True Grit, and Blue Valentine... LOVE, SB |

I thought Hailee Steinfeld was fantastic (and I'm another who thinks True Grit is the best of this lot of films), but Supporting? I know they like to do that (both the studio who puts out the for-your-consideration ads, and the academy) especially for young and up-and-coming talent, but by what possible stretch is that a supporting role?
I'm still ticked Kevin Spacey won supporting for The Usual Suspects, though, so what do I know. |

Best Picture
“Toy Story 3” Darla K. Anderson, Producer Really? Was this movie THAT good that it deserves an Oscar nomination? I'm a little appalled since I've been on the "I hate sequels" bandwagon for quite some time, but I suppose a gem can be shat out once in a while. Still, for a Toy Story sequel? Dear lord. |

Jesse Steinberg nom is a weird one. George Clooney did a better job as a paranoid assassin in the American. But hei, at least no sight of "The Tourist". I saw it last week, and I cannot understand the noms it got on the Golden Globes.
I haven't seen a fraction of the films in the list, but not by choice. True Grit, Black Swan and The Kings's Speech haven't even been released over here (except Black Swan was featured in my town's film festival last week but it sold out pretty quickly). Now, I've seen a few of the more obscure ones like the Banksy docu "Exit Throught the Gift Shop", and it deserves a win. Also, if anyone isn into foreign language film, I recommend the greek "Dogtooth". It's a great film, very eery. It's about a family in the greek country side, where a father and mother has brought up their three children in complete isolation from the rest of the world. |

Ryan Gosling should have been nominated over James Franco, who did give a good performance, but not nearly as good as Ryan Gosling's in Blue Valentine. I'm happy for Michelle Williams, but those roles were so tied into each other that it's sad to see only one actor nominated. I also think Aaron Eckhart should've been nominated for Rabbit Hole, which really also should've had best picture and director nods. One surprise nomination though that I'm very much behind is Dogtooth for best foreign language film.

They might be right, but the supporting actress nom is a side effect of that. Disturbing, huh? |

Jesse Steinberg nom is a weird one. This is just like Pitt's nom for Benjamin Button a few years ago- a totally vanilla performance, but it's a bone thrown in with all the other pic's nominations. LOVE, SB |

I really don't even know where to start. There is so much to love about Toy Story 3 - as a film in its own right, as a sequel, and as a conclusion. I feel sorry for anyone who can't see the joy and beauty in this film. I FEEL SORRY FOR THEM. I've typed up a few replies now, dissecting the film and going into why it's so perfect/clever/funny/moving, but I keep bah-leting. It speaks for itself, bro.
