Salam brothers and sisters, I worked on something out of my own time because i enjoy looking into the history of Islam etc.
I designed a VERY rough family tree going from Ka'b to present day Habib Umar and Habib Al Jifri which is roughly about 40 generations. It is not meant to be very neat or scholarly work, i did it in quick time out of enjoyment. NOTE: It does not include every single person, that would take much much longer, but I think it has all the key people that had children etc. Please have a look at it and tell me what you think, if I made any mistakes please let me know. Salam brothers and sisters. |

Mashallah just had a quick scan and it looks good.
Does it include Sheikh Mohammed Yaquobi in the tree? His lineage can be traced through the great Mawlay Idris al-Anwar who built the city of Fes, a descendant of Sayyiduna al-Hasan the Second, who is the son of Sayyiduna al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), the grandson of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and son of Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah ennoble his countenance). |

Akhi, i need your help on something, i am from a tribe thats called Bani Is'haaq that reside in the northern part of Somalia. Us Somalis who are from the tribe of Is'haaq , believed that we are descendents and members of the Ahlul-Bayt.
The founder of this tribe passed away not too long ago. Sheikh Is'haaq ibn Ahmad (Rahimahullah) was a Arab scholar who was a descendent of Ali Ibn Abu Talib and was born in Hadhramaut, his father was born in Madina al-Munwara, and his Grandfather Muhammad bin Hussein was born in Samara, Iraq. 1. Isaaq 1. إسحاق 2. bin Ahmed 2. بن احمد 3. Bin Mohammed 3. بن محمد 4. Bin Hussien 4. بن حسين 5. Bin Ali 5. بن علي 6. Bin Mudhar 6. بن المطهر 7. Bin Abdalla 7. بن عبد الله 8. Bin Ayup 8. بن ايوب 9. Bin Ali and he (Shaykh Is'haaq) passed away in 727 AH, i count 20-22 generations to him, as traditonally our tribe teach each other the names of their father to preserve the lineage. Akhi is this believable and accurate? This is his tomb in the northern coast of Somalia facing Yemen, a small town call Maydh, the structure of his tomb has'nt been changed since it was constructed almost 800 years ago. 313304_276417315732475_110165972357611_849454_1928915700_n.jpg This is inside his tomb, one of his descendents is the tomb keeper and you can see the beautiful noor coming in 08-10-jan-2011_02-e1305115560414.jpg For more information on this tribe read the thread i created about it. http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...n-)&highlight= Wasalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi wa barakat |

I searched how much years is one generation, the answer is 33 for men
I multiplied 33 x 43 and the answer is 1419, which is accurate since 1400 years ago was the life time of Ali ibnu Abu Talib RA and Rasullalahi Habiballah Salalahu Alayhi wasalam Is this accurate enough ya akhi. I think the reason why Shaykh Habib Ali Al Jufri may Allah preserve him counts 33, is because not all ancestors or men have the same life span, some die at 89, some day at 40, if i count 40+ and still result with the same year 1400+ then this means my ancesotrs life span were short laakin Allahu A3lam Ya akhi, i ask you this because you seem an expert in this criteria. |

I searched how much years is one generation, the answer is 33 for men With regards to how many years is one generation, a generation can be 10 years and it can be 1000 years, a generation lasts until the last person on that line dies. Looking at years will not tell you much, because someone could be 30 generations from the Prophet (pbuh) and someone else could be 40 generations but that is because on one line people did not live as long. Exactly brother, it depends on how long each individual on that line lives, the longer they live the shorter the number of generations. Habib Al Jifri counts 36 generations from the Prophet (pbuh) according to my very basic research and Habib Umar counts 33. And yes if you count 40+ then you can still be a descendant, you'll have to check with someone who knows your family well brother... Oh and i am NO WHERE near an expert brother. I just like to trace Muhammad (pbuh)'s out of enjoyment and knowledge. The lineage you posted does match the lineage on my sheet, If that means anything... Salam. |

Jazak Allah brother! While from Sayyidina Muhammad :saws: to 'Adnan is reliable and authentic. Brother Saad said: "Shajrah up to Sayyiduna Adam (may the peace of Allah be upon him) is not reliable. Holy Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) himself would stop in the middle.". [http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...=1#post475795] And: "Listen to this by Mufti Saeed Khan Sahib. http://www.4shared.com/audio/LxXOtKX...till_Adam.html He quotes this hadith of Holy Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace), 15516- كذب النسابون قال الله {وقرونا بين ذلك كثيرا} [الفرقان : 38] (ابن سعد ، وابن عساكر عن ابن عباس أخرجه ابن سعد (1/56) ، وابن عساكر (3/52) ، وفى الحديث أن النبى - صلى الله عليه وسلم - كان إذا انتسب لم يجاوز فى نسبه معد بن عدنان ثم يمسك ويقول : كذب النسابون ... الحديث . "The genealogists lied: Allah said 'and many generations in between' (Surah Furqan, 38). (Ibn Sa'd and Ibn 'Asakir by way of Ibn 'Abbas); and it comes in the hadith that the Holy Prophet, when detailing his lineage, did not pass Ma'd ibn 'Adnan, then he would cease and state, 'From this point onwards, the genealogists lied'." (Jami' al-Saghir, hadith #15516)". wow those pics are amazing, nice to see your fam tree too, it matched Kuffs diagram, so you are a descendant of our nabi. I am very interested to know more about your family line. I have not seen one from this line with so many descendents before. I would like to ask you many questions inshaa allaah. I present to you here my genealogical tree for discussion. All my fore fathers were great scholars of Islaam and they are on record. 43 generations going through amiyr zayd ibn "aliy (zayd ibn ali) the son of imaam "aliy zaynu_l_"aabidiyn the son of amiyr husayn the son of khaliyfah "aliy son of abuw Taalib + + +. My great grand father was the renowned Shaykh of knowledge as_sayyid "abdullaah abu bakr Effendi al_khushnaawiy al_qurashiy al_amjadiy who was an adviser to the last three absolute Sultans and Khalifs of the Ottoman Empire. He was send to South Africa in 1862 by Sultan and Khalif Abdul Aziz in 1862 at the request of Queen Victoria when her Muslim subjects requested her to ask the Sultan and Khalif to send them a learned scholar to teach them and solve their disputes. A photograph of the occasion was taken when he arrived with all the prominent leaders of the Muslims present. This photograph is the oldest photograph on record of Muslims in South Africa and it might be the oldest dated as well. The Shaykh of Knowledge also wrote a 354 page book called bayaanu_d_diyn (explanation of the religion) in the local language after the Arabic main text. It became the first printed book of note in the Afrikaans language and has been studied now by many scholars around the world.I500 copies were printed of the book after it was signed by Sultan and Khalif Abdul Hamid in 1877. My great grandfather is buried on Signal Hill that lies next to the world famous Table Mountain (Now declared as a seventh wonder of the natural world and the most wonderful and amazing mountain on earth). The Turkish Government is looking to buy the old graveyard and the latest visitors to make a du'aa at the grave was Prime Minister Ertogan and Foreign Minister Davutoglu. I give you here a brief summary of my ancestral history. kamaal-ud-diyn -> muhammad abd-ullaah abu-bakr zuburi bakkah abd-ullaah abuw-bakr muhammad abd-ullaah abuw-bakr muSTafaa sulaymaan abd-ullaah ahmad sulaymaan aliy as-sajjaad husayn aliy imraan shayba amru-l-ulaa al-mughiyra zayd |
