Default Islam and Muslims situation in Africa
According to Economists, the rate of return on foreign investment is higher in Africa than in any other developing region. Global executives (except those from Muslims countries) and investors are now paying heed.

The continent’s economic pulse has quickened, infusing the continent with a new commercial vibrancy. Real GDP rose by 4.9 percent a year from 2000 through 2008, more than twice its pace in the 1980s and ’90s. Telecommunications, banking, and retailing are flourishing. Construction is booming. Private-investment inflows are surging.

To be sure, many of Africa’s 50-plus individual economies face serious challenges, including poverty, disease, and high infant mortality. Yet Africa’s collective GDP, at $1.6 trillion in 2008, is now roughly equal to Brazil’s or Russia’s, and the continent is among the world’s most rapidly growing economic regions. This acceleration is a sign of hard-earned progress and promise.

Unfortunately when it comes to Islam propagation it lacks behind the aggressive Christian evangelicals who are winning millions of hearts and minds in the heartland of the continent by focusing on social enterprise investments in education, health and environment. Of course most of these Church based programs are funded by their strong civil societies in the West, but surely I think the continent is quite receptive of foreigners to the extent looks like Chinese and Indians seem to have a massive playing field there but the same cannot be said of investors and social enterprise pioneers from Muslim countries such as Malaysia, UAE, KSA etc. (The only serious Muslim players there are Iranian's and Turkey).

The key reasons behind this growth surge included government action to end armed conflicts, improve macroeconomic conditions, and undertake microeconomic reforms to create a better business climate. To start, several African countries halted their deadly hostilities, creating the political stability necessary to restart economic growth. My travels in most of sub sahara Africa, I didnt find much Muslims or Islam in the hinterland, and when I asked, I was told that most Muslims prefer urban areas and thats the part where the Church takes advantage of the situation by staying closer to the communities. That said, folks like the Islamic Help are doing some fantastic job there but I feel they are mainly in already Muslim areas instead of those where Islam should be seen doing a good job to the communities.

Any thoughts and experiences ?

Lands of opportunity... but getting spoilt spiritually and materially by greed of the highest proportion. Pollution in rivers, huge deforestation, immorality etc. hugely on the increase... and yes missionaries use locals to flash wealth and attract mostly the more responsible African women and hence hijack huge communities.
AFRICA IS A CROSSROADS.... For years I have been screaming on SF for people to come and do some dawaa work...

In Africa, especially where I'm from, norhten Nigeria, missionary works by christians are always developing with a shocking rate! The reason for that is that, our rulers, prominent people and the so called traditional rulers whom their root is from Al-Mujaddad Sheikh Usman Bn Fodio rahimahullah, who with the Jihad he and followers transformed the system of ruling in almost all Northern Nigeria and Niger republic. But these rulers have somehow neglected their duties where they fought each other in countless battles, instead of continuing the propagation of Islam to the other regions especially southern parts. And international Islamic da'awah organisations, seemed not doing well in the country,by not monitoring their projects they supponsor in the country and leaving it to 'back-draggers' that put us back always. Instead of having direct connection with Ahlus-Sunnaah,they cooperate with some other sects. Wallahu Musta'an.

The matter of the propagation of Islam can never be left behind. Even if it is left for one generation, the born Muslims will go to disbelief, so the fire of preaching Islam to Muslims and non-Muslims always has to be there.

In reality I do not know much about the situation in Africa, but I see unfortunately quite a lot of neglect and/or lack of knowledge among the Muslims nowadays. It is not strictly a matter of not enough money either, since there are even poor Christian missionaries, meaning that they have the zeal for their religion regardless of their economic situation.

Various natural resources exist in Africa which they can be a cause of well-developed state. But unfortunately they are not properly used. Therefore, Majority of the Muslims passed their lives with low living style.

I think its because the charity is not channelled to responsible and real leaders of the community and instead given to some salafi polemical cult to spread salafism who as usual form the tiny fringe cult of the society.

Africans do not need Charity

their economies are doing quite well now

That said, Christians are also doing much better as they have established the best institutions which means they have upper-hand in getting better jobs and careers than Muslims

My experience of non Black Muslims in Africa is that they went there to make money and most of them consider the black community to be below them....not all, but the majority do not care for black Africans, as long as the dollars are rolling in, the house workers are doing their work and the cars are washed for them by the black Africans.

Dawah work should definitely be increased. When i say 'should' of course that refers to us, and first most we must consider what we ourselves are doing.
I do have a little bit of good news i'd like to share with everyone here regarding Islam in Africa.
Alhumdullilah Sierra Leone has become a Muslim country in the last 50 years:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_Sierra_Leone
in 1960 it was 35%.
in 2008 it was 71%
An astonishing increase Mashallah

Almost all visitors to Africa have an agenda and its certainly mainly involves exploitation

the good thing is majority of people there have woken up so things are changing for better.
