During the taraweeh tonight the imam recited surah insan. He recited the 24th verse wrong, tried to fix it, failed to do so, so he went into ruku' and we finished the 2-rakah set like this. In the next set, I expected him to start from verse 25, but he completely skipped it and started the recitation from verse 26. He probably didn't even realize he skipped a verse, and there were no huffath there so he wasn't corrected. I didn't correct him because I didn't have the guts to do so Does this affect the validity of taraweeh? Technically it wouldn't really be "khatm-e-Qur'an' since he skipped a verse. Should I tell him about this tomorrow, and can this still be fixed somehow? |

Yes tell him ASAP. He can go back read 24-25 then jump to where he ended even if it's in another surah. I've seen huffaz go back patch things up the next day then carry on their normal course. Gotta credit Shaykh Eat-Halal tarweeh blogs for that tidbit of knowledge. Haha. |

What if he doesn't listen? Im just a youth, he'll probably say I dont know what im talking about. Will one verse really mess up the whole taraweeh? |

Your job is to simply inform him with the best of adab. You are not required to compel him to believe you or to act on your statement. Ultimately the Imamate is his responsibility. You simple tell him what you heard and feel happened. Then the rest is upto him inshallah. But at least you can rest after that, that you did everything in your ability assist him fulfill his duty.

It's doubtful tat he'll respond that way. however keep in mind that there were a few other people who's job it was to correct him and if they didn't catch him it is possible that he didn't actually make a mistake. in any case make sure to point it out....what's the worst that could happen? however do make sure to double check from the mushaf to make sure that you're not in the wrong, before you announce to them. |

During the recitation in Taraweeh*some aayats were missed. The error was only realised after having recited*some portion of the Qur’an after the missed aayats. The missed*aayats must now be recited. In this case it will be preferable to repeat*the recitation of the section of the Qur’an that was already recited after the*missed aayats.

Oh no, I goofed up. The Imam did khatm today! So now theres no point in correcting him.
And I found this in the link bro sulaiman provided: If a Saami’ has been appointed, only he should correct any error in the recitation of the Imaam. Others should not be hasty to correct the Imaam. This results in confusion. However, if the Saami’ did not manage to correct the Imaam, it is necessary upon whoever is able to correct the Imaam to do so irrespective of which row he may be standing in. If he refrains from correcting the Imaam despite having the ability to do so, he will be sinful. (Fataawa Rahimiyya, v.3, p. 84) So now im sinful also All I can do is repent now... for the replies brothers. |
